RTI Prophet Plus (and other bottle gun owners) bipod mounting solution

You’ve probably seen this before on other bottle guns. I wanted to share it to the small but select group of RTI Prophet/Priest owners who worry about resting the weight of the gun on the bottle on the bag.
You can just simply attach the bipod to the pic rail on the frame but this allows you to move the CG forward making it more stable when shooting from a bench.

The rear mounting ring is a standard Leapers high picatinny 30mm mount. The one up front is a Monsterum 30mm with a picatinny on the top cap as well. You can use your favorite brand of ring. I chose these because their cheap. The tube is a 30mm CF you can purchase wherever CF tubes are sold. Shop around because the prices are all over the place. I got this piece from a friend.

you can also shop around and find a picatinny to picatinny adapter. I chose this set up also cause I can quick release it when not in use.
Know when going this route, you will need to de-gas and index the bottle so you can have easy access to the fill nipple and reg adjuster

Many of us have done this over the years. Great minds think alike. ;^) We have also used a rail extension and the wonderful bottle clamp as well.

Anything you can do to get the bipod moved forward on the gun is a good thing. Many ways to do this.

Bottle/tube clamp

Likely one of the the least expensive ways it can be done

A lighter weight way to do it

Its a good Idea to use a plug in the ends of the CF tube when you do this so it does not get crushed and allow the rings loosen.

Probly the best way to do it for an Impact. Not sure if anyone makes these for the RTI as yet. This is a K&L but Saber Tactical makes some also.

Saw-weet Bio! What did you use to plug the openings of the tube?

I have a couple of Delrin plugs, I use when I put the CF tube in the jaws of my mini-lathe to cut it. But was planning on making some nicer ones for this project. Have not got to that as yet though. So many things to do and all the time in the world to do them. Yet they still don't get done. How's that werq?

Well OK you got me to do something today anyway. I finished off the rail extender with some nice Delrin caps that extend in the length of the rings so there is support there under the tube.

I must apologize to the OP for getting a bit off topic here.

That is the K&L Gen2 trigger guard on my M3 and I love it because it has the Arca rail adapter plate that slides on it but a Picatinny on the end, but they don't make them any more. I ordered one from a couple of vendors and ended up with a different model both times so sent them back. So gave up on getting another and just bought one of the short Gravity rails for the compact .22 Impact as it is mainly an Arca rail with a picatinny attachment. The plus on this one is the Arca is located far back on the gun so it balances much better on the tripod. I can add a longer picatinny if I find the need.

EDIT;

After all of that I noticed the Gen 2 on the Utah Airgun site again and called them. They said they actually had some of the gen2 units as they found some tucked away somewhere. They are thinner and lighter weight than the beautiful Gen3 unit that they sent me instead of the Arca adapter I ordered. I had to send it back so I could live with myself though. Over hundred dollar difference between the two.

There are so many very nice rails/trigger guards, both long and short, Arca and Picatinny or a marriage of the two, available from both K&L and Saber Tactical that you should be able to find something that will werq for you.

As far as what you should buy decide on whether or not you will ever be going to a tripod with an Arca rail first. If that is a possibility you probly want something that has both an Arca and Picatinny. If not then you can just do the Picatinny thing. Me I like both the Gen2 and Gen3 K&L units as well as a couple of the Saber Tactical rails.

Hope this is helpful I know it hard to decide and hard to get the right parts sometimes.

Apologies to davecole, as well, appreciate his indulgence. Talked to Stephen, at K&L, about $95 FX Impact Gen 2.2 trigger guard. Said will bolt right on M3, has larger fill port hole and has an under-bottle rail that fits a picatinny or Arca sliding piece that can tighten anywhere along rail. It comes with Picatinny only, I think. No tripod for me, just $70 Amazon bipod I found out about on AGN. Seems to be a well-designed piece, so should suffice. Thanks for help, Bio, and thanks again, Dave, for letting us share your thread.
