New member here. Just a quick out-of-box review on the RWS 3400 I received in exchange from Umarex for the Walther Terrus .177 they would not repair (safety issue). That tale of woe is included in this post from another member - https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/walther-terrus-trigger-question/
When Umarex said this would be my replacement, I Googled around and found very little info on the 3400, so I thought people might appreciate my (limited to this point) info. I've never done a real review, except some product comments at Amazon, etc., so here goes.
I'm pretty impressed with the quality so far. I'd be shooting it, but it's about 95° all week here. Was delivered SUNDAY by FedEx, poor guy said they're running 7 day ops now...

The Monte Carlo stock is very traditionally finished, nicely formed, and flawless. I have read that it is a re-labeled Terrus, but there are many differences. Here's a shot of what's left of the Terrus, the stock and trigger guard. I like the traditional finish of the RWS better than the caramel color of the Terrus but that's me. I'd be happy to still have the Terrus if the safety worked. The action and trigger mounts are completely different dimensions. The 3400's front bolts go straight in the fore stock, and the Terrus' angle up at 45°.
The RWS has a very nicely fitted recoil pad with no visible means of attachment. Maybe it's recessed and glued, don't know.
The grip is sharply checkered with a interesting pattern. Looks great, but I think the pattern may be printed or burned in? Different pattern on opposite side. Theories welcome.
The side view of the fore stock is very similar to the Diana 34, no checkering.
The only similarity to the Terrus I can see is the safety design and position.
The 11mm scope rail is riveted on and actually has 2 scope stop holes instead of just dimples. They are each 5mm deep. That was something that had concerned me, since I have a 3x9-40 AO UTG I wanted to transfer over from the Terrus. Droop is yet to be determined.
The rear sight is similar, but not identical to the Terrus. Different design and bolt centers, but still Tru-Glo.
The front sight looks similar to the Diana 34, but different. It's a hooded plastic Tru-Glo affair attached with a single set screw from the top. Different than the metal Terrus dovetail mount.
The trigger also is different from the Terrus, different bolt patterns and the 3400's trigger is grooved metal, not plastic. Guard is still plastic. The tag says it's 2-stage, but I haven't done more than putting a couple pellets in the target at point-blank range just to make sure it (and the safety) works.
