N/A RWS Diana 54 Purchase

Hello I'm a first time lurker , I recently went to a range where a Air rifle club was shooting and I really enjoyed NOT heraing the Bang..
Those guys were having so much fun.
I inquired about one of the guys guns that was there and he offered to sell me one of his . It is a Virgin Model 54 with no scope .
It has a maple stock and by the pictures looks pretty good he said it was around a 2008 -10
I would like to know what they are worth this one looks like a 8 out of a 10 maybe .
If thats not a good brand what would be a good starter?

I have one of these in .22. I love it. I had mine tuned by John Thomas in York, Pa. Not sure what all he did but I know he replaced the spring and it's easier to cock now. Surprisingly it actually gained about 10fps. The tune cut the group's in half. I then put a tuner on it by Hector and cut the group's in half or more with it. It now shoots inside a notebook reinforcement ring at 25 yards. In good conditions inside a nickel at 50 yds. At 100 yards I have shot under 1.5 inch back to back group's. Scopes.....I installed one of the the Diana scope mounts but could not zero the scope where I wanted. I replaced it with Burris Signature rings with inserts on the advice of Hector Medenez. He said the problem with the 54 is the vibration caused by the heavy spring and the inserts in the rings mitigate that. I have had no scope issues in over a thousand shots. I have a Sightron S Tac scope on it. I have killed multiple groundhogs with it. If I buy another one I will have Nitrocrushr from this forum perform his magic on it. My wife who will shoot nothing with 1 ounce of recoil shoots two airguns, the 54 and our Diana75s. I am at 19.85 fpe with 15.89 gr pellets. I bought mine third handed off this forum, good purchase.

Hello fellas I picked it up over the weekend , let me say thanks for your guys responses. Man this thing is Heavy! I guess that's why they are so precise? It looks well made . He said it did have scope mounts on it but he kept them for his newer RWS . I played around with it and really couldn't dial in many groupings at 25 yards using the flip up sights. What are people putting on here that will last? I can't afford to put a Burris or a sightron just yet but with this sled system does it still eat scopes? I thought about putting my Leupold VX on it for the time being but don't want to risk it .
This thing weighs almost double to my weatherby 223 . I guess it takes some getting used to.
Thanks for y'all's input .

UTG makes springer rated scopes (bug buster) and some come with rings, also (Hawke) with life time warranty

All Leupold scopes are spring gun rated and carry a lifetime warranty. All my scopes are either Leupold or Vortex.

Do not put a Vortex crossfire on a spring gun that is rated over 12 fpe. I own the Diana 48 that is the number 1 king of busting scopes and I have yet to break one. I use a Vortex Diamondback on my 48.
