Tuning RWS Diana 54

I am very new here, first post. I am also a complete rookie to airguns but plenty of experience with rim and centerfire rifles and pistol/revolvers.

I acquired a beautiful Diana 54 .177 cal. that was manufactured in July 1992 and rarely fired for all these years. I know nothing about this fine rifle and am hoping some of you can wind me up and point me to the right places to find stuff like the owners/operators manual as well as the tech section where I can find info on seal and O ring replacement.

I suspect I will find both lovers and haters of this particular rifle and I will enjoy reading about the advantages and disadvantages along the way. I already know it is a heavy beast and from what I was able to garner so far this rifle could be tough on scopes. Mine does have what I believe are a couple upgrades, IE; stock and better trigger but I don't know if these were factory upgrades such as a Deluxe model or aftermarket additions. The PO is long gone and his widow knew only that he loved this rifle and spent quite a lot for it. It's been untouched in my gun collection for a lot of years now but I never really had much interest in getting it out and on duty until now. Critters getting in my attic and storage shed beware!

Thanks for any help

i know nothing about your air gun but if you want critters out of the attic , use peppermint oil on cotton balls and scatter around the attic ,

NOTICE : it has to be 100% pure peppermint oil , food store (in the baking section IS NOT 100% and will not work )

on line you can find it a few $$ a small bottle , be careful and use gloves and do not use too much oil

as you will find out it burns their eyes and they leave fast

I'm not 💯 sure but I believe the early 90's 48,52,54 had a hard plastic breach seal. I have your rifles poorer older brother, the 48. It had a hard plastic breach seal. I just used a metal screw to pull out the old seal but can't remember how I installed the new one. I did have to adjust the cocking lever rod to make up for the thinner new seal.

Thanks Bio, Your gun and the stock look exactly like mine except mine is the laminated version. Is the breech seal an easy thing to replace? I do like the scope on your rifle.

Scope is a 4x12x50 Hawke Airmax.

I wouldn't even have it on there if it were not for the Diana Bullseye mount.

Without the mount my 52 killed a Hawke Vantage in short order.

I had to put o-rings around the eyepiece as it got very loose.

This mount will likely save yer scopes.
