Diana RWS Diana Model 5 pistol- squeaks

I've rencently purchased a Model 5, 1980's vintage I think, and it works well. However, when cocking it makes a high picted squeek. I was thinking it was the main air seal inside the gun so I put a couple of drops of RWS silicone lube thru the breach hole. However, it still squeeks. Could the spring be making this noise possibly?

Any info would be appreciated. I've never dissembled it so I'm not sure how difficult it would be to lube the main spring, PS.

well, these pistols have very little lube in them, or they should and if the cylinder is dry, they will honk just like a goose
the spring making noise is hard to say
I'm so paranoid of putting too much lube in the compression chamber, from about everything I've read. Sounds like i should give her another two (at least) two drops down the ole chamber? whata think? It did seem like it did get quieter when first oiled... thank you, mjo

Moly you can buy from Air Rifle Headquarters. https://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251484/42989.htm This is petroleum based and will combust if it gets in front of the seal so it needs to be applied properly.

Krytox is not combustible, but very expensive and does not mix with other lubricants. All existing lubes must be thoroughly cleaned out of the gun before applying Krytox. https://www.zoro.com/krytox-05-oz-tube-synthetic-white-gpl-205/i/G1578906/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping feed&utm_content=free google shopping clicks&campaignid=21424294680&productid=G1578906&v=&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIivHSp9HciQMVEjXUAR3p0A1zEAQYASABEgIYrPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
sorry I had another question. I noticed that on one video it seemed to say that in order to correctly lube the steel spring area you have to also use the grease known as "tar" or something like that. I saw that Air Rifle headquarters (very interesting site, those guys must be the gurus, thank you) sells that tar also. Does that stuff need to be used? and thanks

so the model 5 which would be a full plastic grip frame is harder to work on than the 5G and it has everything to do with the rear cap but we are jumping to conclusion here what one man noise may not equate to another understanding of that noise
the fact is questions are asked on this and all forums and the tail chasing begins
now my first thought is a dry piston seal as in lack of lube but i would have taken the grip frame off and looked to see what i could see
can you see the spring does it look to have grease on it
these pistols do not need a lot of lube and the type isn't going to matter much i know one guy that was using RED and TACKY grease in his FWB 300's with great outcomes on the springs i use ULTIMOX 226 on my Diana6 seals it is on Ebay and the price is high but you use very little for us that do more than one rebuild it is fine
so let chase our tail for a second and guess
the seal is old and has gotten hard the lube has disappeared in time and the is the noise a guess, the springs in these pistols are very stout could it be making noise someone what to guess i would say no
so here is a trick for those who want to open up a model 5
gun comes apart in a few minutes as in trigger parts and grip frame and i would take the barrel off so you just have the tube to work on
the rear of the tube has a screw on cap it has a 3mm very short screw that indexes the cap and holds it in place and after taking the little screw out could be a real pain in the A$$ to get off but the cap is holding the spring and that is your next problem
now you have to unscrew the cap till the threaded hole where that little screw for the cap screws in, are you with me still
now that is your key to getting the cap off and the guts staying in the pistol
take a 3mm screw i like hex less fumbling around and thread it in the tube and tighten it down, you have just put a stop screw on the spring spacer
take off the cap but before you do that have a clamp or push the damn gun up against something strong and undue the 3mm set screw in the tube
do it right and there is no drama do it wrong and you are going to have a big surprise
the rest can in another post
just remember my words here the spring in a model 5 has some power

so what would i do you have added some oil of some sort shoot it would be my suggestion because you have but 2 choices shoot it or take it apart, you or someone that know how

all i have and one other thing take the rear sight off when working on the pistol they are because age getting fragile and there are none to be had, and that is true of the mounting screw take care of the sight pieces

I need to pull the rear plastic tube cover off the Model 5 and try to see what you are talking about regarding the screw on cap and the indexing 3 mm screw. Not sure what that looks like, but maybe after I take off the plastic end cap, I'll see what you are talking about. I'm sure its best to keep the guts in the tube without additional disassembly, if the seal is still in place. I'm at work now but will check using your above description, when I get home tonight. I may have to send you a pic of what I'll be looking at, to make sure i'm understanding correctly. And thank you for all your help.

Is Airgun Headquarters the best place to buy parts for these older guns?
