I am wanting to shoot some Leighhigh rounds through my Texan .457. Just trying to figure out if it's a good idea, will the sabot foul my barrel will plastic, and how hard would it be to clean it is so. What are everyones thought! Thanks in advance!

I shoot .45 sabot bullets through my .50 muzzle loader and don't have a problem with plastic fouling. I think you should be OK.

I too shoot sabots in a modern muzzleloader with no issues at all. My .50 cal with Sabots shoot Hornaday XTP pistol bullets very nicely. Brother got a mold as the pistol bullets get expensive. Given the sabots stand up to fire without plastic fouling, I would think air would be no issues. I'm looking for files to 3D print the darn things, they are pricey for what they are.

If I do get some 3d print files, I'll have to scratch my head for a while to figure out what plastic to use. PLA may be just fine, ABS is a little too dry and brittle IMO. I hear Nylon can be printed but is a difficult material. PLA is very forgiving, if strong enough and lubricity is OK.

Instead of a plastic sabot you can also try paper patching. There are many people using it even with smokeless centre fire rifles of different calibres and that is what was used before plastic sabots became popular. The plastic is just the easy and lazy alternative of paper patching.
