The Idaho Air Gun Field Target Club is holding a 40-shot Field Target match on July 13th in Pocatello, Idaho. This club has put on FT matches since 2005 under AAFTA rules, but this match will stretch the long shots from 55 yards out to 100 yards, or maybe even further. We will have several themed lanes that tell stories. We call it Sagebrush Field Target. We will also have a 40-shot match on reactive targets that includes The Great Idaho Train Robbery. Kinda like Butch and Sundance, but with pellet guns.

Cool, sounds like a neat match! I'll be coming back through Pocatello about a week previous to your match since I'll be camping on the Greys river near Alpine WY. If the timing had been right I would have liked to of joined you guys.

On July 13th , in Pocatello, Idaho, the Idaho Air Gun Field Target Club and the Wasatch Airgunners will co-sponsor an innovative Field Target match. One lane will have four 11 by 16 inch buffalo targets set out among a herd of adult and calf bison roaming across a native grassland on historic range. Some may ask,” How will I know which ones to shoot”? Hint: shoot the ones with kill zones. The others are foam board cut outs. Sign up information is in the works and will be posted in this thread.

Half of the match is the Sagebrush Field Target course. The other half is a 40-shot course that could be described as NRL lite. One stage, nicknamed The Great Idaho Train Robbery, will feature two 19th century steam engine targets on a moving target machine. Special thanks to the local NRL22 club for the loan of the mover. To rob the train, shooters will have to shoot a steel stick of dynamite, and then shoot through the keyhole of the cash box. Pocatello was founded as a railroad town and this stage looks back to that heritage.
