FX Said I'd NEVER sell my FX Boss, BUT.....

As the title states, I'm toying with the idea of selling my Boss (.30) with the intent of getting a .25, 600mm, FX DRS with SHP (Super High Power) plenum. Being I respect the opinions of my fellow airgunners here I wanted to see what the feedback would be. Please don't tell me I'd regret letting the Boss go. Of course I will but here's my reasoning. I'm on fixed income and pellets are NOT getting cheaper, especially .30 cal. The wife & I might be parting ways & that makes things even harder to afford. Seems the DRS is getting good feedback from owners and the like. A high power .25 would do the job with the hunting I do. So my friends, talk me out of it or into it (DRS) & let me know what you think. I'd always regret selling my favorite gun but I'm trying to be practical (an oddity for me!). I better get in that mindset for what's coming down the road for me.

Gerry,

Even though I don’t own the DRS, I say go for it. You have had great fun and memories with the FX Boss .30 and it’s fun to have something to look forward to trying out in 2025. I love Mike’s ( CC) Boss, but since I shoot the 30-40y target challenge 90% of my range time, I seldom shoot 100y at my local outdoor range.

It’s my only .30 and since I just purchased 3 new tins each of AEA 45g and 51g pellets, I want to give them a whirl for the 100y “slugs in the rings” target challenge.

Buy a new gun, as you have still two other beautiful FX heirlooms.

Is it justifiably sound for you to make the transition? How often do you hunt that you want to go down in caliber? You already know what the gun likes, you could just buy in bulk and not have to worry about ammo, specially during sales.

I would hate to sell my favorite piece of equipment for something I have high hopes for, only for it to not perform to my standard, or to just not quiet fit me right, ya know?

I'm sorry that you're going through hard times atm, but I would advise against getting rid of your boss.

@Gerry52 , You need to go back and read your posts on how you marvel at this gun. It is a part of you and a big mistake to sell. If money is short, cleal out your gun parts cabinet. Bet you have tons of unused junk to sell. A $200 30 cal pellet order would keep you happy for a spell. That's why they call it the BOSS.

Do you want to shoot pellets or slugs? Out to what range?

I've chased the latest and greatest for years and ended up going back with older guns that I know I liked. You might love the DRS but it's also very different to what you are used to. But maybe that's what your looking for with all that's going on.

What is the DRS going to accomplish that your Royale 500 won't? Unless your Royale can't push the 34gr pellets then that's more understandable. I have noticed DRS have the slow first shot problem which as a fellow hunter to me it's a big no go. Something I'd look into if I were you.

Prayers for what is going on in your personal life.

I also own a Boss as you know but don't shoot it as often either because of the cost of .30cal pellets so I feel ya. Awesome hunting gun. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

Just think super hard. You might not get what you think you will out of that boss. Super soft market right now and lots of deals to be had. Then again the boss has a niche some other guns don’t. Hard to say. I won’t say one way or another as I’m not super fond of the drs particularly.

Mike, was hoping you'd chime in! I figured the DRS would give me an option for both. Something my .25 Royale & Boss won't do. HARD decision for me. You know how I feel about the Boss & what I can do with it. I just can't afford something new without selling something old. As far as what range, you know my longest kill with the Boss was 178 yards. Figured I might top that with slugs. Never heard back from you about getting the Eddy back to you. Gimme a shout.

THANKS PAL! I needed to hear that & do what you suggested about past posts. You, JaceSpace1369, Just Zack 2, Vetmx & Smok3y confirmed what I'm biased towards. I'm REALLY emotionally attached to the Boss. It's rarely EVER let me down. I guess just knowing I'd never stop regretting selling it should be a clear indication to NOT do it. I have the "I wants" right now & with me, that usually passes. Thanks all you guys who were emphatic about not selling it. I'm gonna go in the garage right now & apologize to the Boss for even THINKING about it! :ROFLMAO:
