If it was a gun you cojld easily replace then selling wouldn't be as big a deal. Discontinued guns are harder to replace unfortunately. Seller's remorse would hurt.

No, I'm not. After installing a new Huma reg a while back I'm getting up to 54 shots (six 9 shot mags) in .30 caliber! Used to only get around 27-30 shots. New reg made a huge difference.I just picked up a .25 DRS with 500mm barrel in walnut and the large plenum. It shoots awesome, however, I only get 30 shots per fill. I’m sure you get much more with the boss, so are you ready to go with a lower shot count?

Hadn't thought about casting. Not interested in the cost, labor & new learning curve. Another thing is the Original Smooth Twist barrels on my guns are a whole different animal from FX's other barrel systems. They were literally designed around specific pellets to be extremely accurate with those. It would probably be a gigantic PIA to cast pellets as perfectly weighted & sized as the gun needs. Wouldn't even consider it but thanks.Gerry, if it's the cost of the pellets, have you considered casting them? Since I've started casting 30 cal NOE pellets, I bet I haven't open, one or two tins of my 30cal stash of JSB and Hatsan Supremes in the last year or so. They shoot really well out of my FX Crown. I call them "free" pellets after paying off the molds and accessories. I'm just using recycled pellets.

For some reason I couldn't convey this, but I'm glad you did, very well said!@Gerry52
This may sound heartless, but it is actually heart felt
From what you have told us, you are dealing with the distinct possibility of losing someone of value to you.
Why on earth would you double the stress by engineering the loss of something else, also of value?
One loss is much better than two
Keep The Boss, please.

Not familiar with AMP reg. but the Huma HP reg in my Boss was set for 160 per Ernest Rowe's videos. Been almost 2 years with it now & I'm still thrilled with it.Hmmmm. Got me thinking Gerry.
I can’t recall, but I think I have an FX reg in my .30 Boss. When Newman Buck had it in for minor moderator service / replacement I think he said the reg was set to 150 BAR. But, I only get about 27-30 shots also.
I just bought some AEA 50.1g pellets as Mike N mentioned for me to give them a try, as they have a good BC. The 44g shoot at a very consistent 875 FPS with low ES. The 50.1g at about 830 FPS.
I’m wondering about replacing the reg with an FX AMP if it’s possible, or just go with anew Huma?
Trying to improve my scoring for the ‘slugs in the rings’ 100Y challenge with the 50.1g and maybe increase shot count with a new Huma.
What do you think?

Tommy, I gotta tell you. The last couple times I looked at Huma's Boss regs I DID NOT see the "HP" (high power) version. There IS a regular Boss regulator but you might want to contact Huma & ask if the HP is still available. I had THEM set mine for 160 before shipping it to me. Thought that was important info to give you in case you decide on Huma.Good info, thanks

Gerry, I always regret selling any of my guns. Especially the one I really like.As the title states, I'm toying with the idea of selling my Boss (.30) with the intent of getting a .25, 600mm, FX DRS with SHP (Super High Power) plenum. Being I respect the opinions of my fellow airgunners here I wanted to see what the feedback would be. Please don't tell me I'd regret letting the Boss go. Of course I will but here's my reasoning. I'm on fixed income and pellets are NOT getting cheaper, especially .30 cal. The wife & I might be parting ways & that makes things even harder to afford. Seems the DRS is getting good feedback from owners and the like. A high power .25 would do the job with the hunting I do. So my friends, talk me out of it or into it (DRS) & let me know what you think. I'd always regret selling my favorite gun but I'm trying to be practical (an oddity for me!). I better get in that mindset for what's coming down the road for me. View attachment 532996Thanks!

Scott, I already decided I'll keep my most loved Boss. It was a passing whim. Thanks to all you guys who convinced me to use common sense. Where? From what I understand it's special order only & I'm not even sure about that. The Boss is still available.
