Same ole problem but cheapest way to solve it

What do you guys do to fill you air guns at remote locations. I know it has been discussed countless times. What is the cheapest
way? Tank, remote compressor hook up off car battery. I hear you must have a giant generator to power a Yong Heng compressor?
Is there a remote car compressor that will not brake the bank? I need help!

Hello @Fly

My backup compressor is a Vevor ( see attached link ) which I use in the house on 115vac but it is set up to work on 12vdc.

the thing about running one off your car is (if i understand it right ) you need to up the Engine RPM's a bit to supply the amps .

myself I have been thinking about a GX compressor, runs off Makita batteries and two models, 1 has a single battery but the other one has two plus auto shutoff.. not sure how good they are but if you search Makita battery compressor you will find a bit of conversion on them..
myself I'm just filling with my Omega trail charger and waiting until I get back to the house to refill.. currently.
I'd really like to read more about the GX compressor from people who have ran them awhile.. my Omega is probably 7-8 years and trouble free

Excellent compressors from personal experience. I’ve had the battery operated one and the 12 volt one. Moisture has always been my concern with small portable compressors.

Just added something to my response. Other than that excellent compressors. I now use tanks in the field filled with my omega compressors
so do you still use the GX compressor? how long have you had one? also about how much do you think you used it..I agree with the moisture part..I always kept mine in the garage, here in Rogue River Oregon it's pretty dry air and low humidity so it is good but I used to live in logsden Oregon and we got 120" of rain and very high humidity..I'd see water come out of the separator and I always made a point to fill the gun, bleed of and restart the compressor and let it pump with no pressure to help clear any moisture out of the compressor.. never seen signs of moisture after the separator..
oh also which GX compressor do you own the single battery or double battery?
I fought with a leaky tank and couldn't get a new valve and got frustrated and gave up on it.. figured if I was going to spend money on a new tank I might be better off with another compressor because with just one if it goes down, the tank will just last for a little while..
thank you

I no longer own my gx compressors I had a gxcs2 and gxel2(single battery) Both were not used heavily and worked great. I sold them to members here. Owning high end guns I didn’t want to take a chance on moisture getting in so I didn’t use them often.

Curious if anyone has ever tried a marine “Deep Cycle” battery. I think I would do that rather than have to always start the car with a high idle to make sure charging is occuring since cars nowadays don’t have an ammeter to show charging and discharging. An independant battery will assure you can get home.
Or, has someone done a test to see how man compressor runs they can do before there car battery will no longer start the vehicle. Obviously a small economy car battery and an F250 battery have a wide gap of amp hour capacity.

Yes I have tried that and it fried the on off switch on the compressor . I wouldn’t recommend it because if the car isn’t running the compressor will dip the battery below 12 and pull higher than necessary amps and cause issues.

Do the manuals on dual voltage compressors advise running car engine while running compressor ?
