Friends,
Weather permitting, the next TEXtreme competitions scheduled for Saturday, April 5 will be specifically for 20 and 12 foot pound field target rifles and pistols. More specifically, the course will be set to be good practice for the upcoming Republic Of Texas Championships at Arlington Sportsmans Club the last weekend of April. Should there be a weather cancellation, our April 5 competition will be rescheduled for the following Saturday, April 12.
Although each of our ten lanes will be set up with targets of Troyer difficulties meant specifically for 20 foot pound rifles (at ranges of 10-55 yards), and other targets of Troyer difficulties meant specifically for 12 foot pound pistols (at ranges of 10-35 yards), anyone is welcome to shoot any air rifle or pistol of no more than 20 foot pounds at any two targets per lane they choose to shoot.
Match registration being by sale of scorecards, the cards will clearly specify which particular targets on each lane were set up for which power level. For example, 20 foot pound will be in black, and 12 foot pound in red. However if (for example) a rifle shooter prefers lower difficulties he is welcome to shoot the lower Troyer (pistol) targets relating to red on the scorecards. Conversely if a pistol shooter desires extra challenging difficulties he may shoot the rifle targets relating to black on the scorecards.
Shooters may purchase as many as two scorecards; as we desiring rifle AND pistol practice for RoT will do. Those shooters will count as two shooters in their respective squad of three. This competition being largely for the RoT AAFTA Championships, unlike TEXtreme Field Target competitions the target distances will not be discloed. Another difference will be the matches will be forty shots, rather than our usual 60 shot format. Hence we’ll take two shots at each of two specific targets on each of the ten lanes. We will be playing by AAFTA rules.
I’m hoping to set one offhand lane for rifles and pistols, and also a rifle kneeling lane. Of course anyone unable or unwilling to shoot from kneeling position can shoot the kneeling lane offhand, instead. There is no such thing as forced kneeling shots in Pistol Field Target competitions.
One scorecard per shooter is $25; a second card per shooter is $15. Highly-coveted 24 karat gold (colored) Match Winner hat pins will be awarded in any AAFTA division or class with at least four entrants.
The sight-in/practice range will open at 10 AM, until the shooters meeting commences at noon. Match start will be approximately ten minutes after completion of the shooters meeting. Since we will be shooting in squads of three (or virtual three), I expect the competition to take about 3 hours.
See You Soon,
Ron & Maggyy
