Snow flurries earlier in the week but 70 degrees in TN Saturday which worked out well for the scheduled Invicta Club match. Now the Invicta club is in Minor Hill TN ( http://www.invictaftc.org/ ) , but, logging and dozing was suddenly scheduled and with one days notice would have canceled the match if not for Roz ( http://www.gobft.net/ )
graciously allowing everyone to suddenly show up in his yard to shoot, Thank you Roz, and everyone else who helped things go so well. Airgun folks are just the nicest.
Following in the "nicest folks" theory my friend Jeff rolled in the yard at 5:50am bringing a new shooter with him, his Daughter Kala ( hope I spelled that correctly) to pick me up for the drive down. Great company both.
Kala shot very well though she was handy capped by using my non-zeroed QB78 HPA , Jeff was able to quickly sight it in to hit a 1" spinner at 25ish and that's what she had to use, I don't think she took more than a dozen shots on the sightin range and only at zero:
and some others checking zero & such:
David Slade brought a couple of nice old school rifles, a Theboen FT w/ Anschutz barrel slamming wood ...... I believe it was the one in the old sales brochure/catalog and an old Beeman Maco which will still hold it's own against any new rifle, personally I love using classics
Anyone shooting hunter class FT in a points match will need to beat this rifle:
I cant begin to tell you what all has been done to it but Charles did clear the course with it and that was quite a feat.
Larry used his newer RAW being as one consistently shoots 3/8" for him at 50 yards but this one shooting true one hole was the one to use. Sure do wish "I" could shoot the difference between 3/8" and one hole still, yup. Really one of the better left hand rigs I have seen.
Pat like's to switch rifles/scopes often but has been sticking with his TM this year and FINALLY sold him self on the need for using a level, even if it only gives you t 2 or 3 more points they can be money well spent.
Speaking of level's I got to see in person ( we all like that eh ?) the level I will be buying next, very thin 1" or 30mm sizes so they fit much easier in limited room, metal rings with Tortx screws. I had though of trying one but seeing it in person sold me.
Jeff is one of the few people I have seen who shoots standing in the same position as I do ( I also shoot PFT this way )
Cliff finally got warm enough to move up to his cooler summer grounds here in TN:
While he had been enjoying some BR in Fla I'll bet he was glad to be back in FT heaven.
Kala on the course
She really is a natural, not even the slightest tremor/shake/... has no issue with a 4oz trigger, hadn't really used a scope before which naturally makes it harder to acquire long targets but before I could offer any advice thhe first time she put her open plam against the side of the stock while looking through the scope and acquired the target is 2 seconds, nice thinking using all new tools with no instruction.
David shooting his Maco:
Brad Troyer using his TX200 with homemade stock & all factory internals, Brad may have had a bit if rare practice time this year so naturally he is another to watch at the big shoots. And, just one heck of a nice person.
Roz with his BM500 using a new printed sidewheel he just acquired:
An old friend Rick showed up and I missed getting a good picture of him but this is the BM he used:
Charles , clearing , the course, crazy.
Kala:
And Harold with his slightly custom Steyr
I think Harold is now selling (some ?) of his custom Steyr parts. I wish I could have gotten a better image of his rifle it IS really sharp looking ( and I am a Walnut and traditional type rig fan but his rig is attractive).
I also got to talk some more about the newest latest greatest rules - ugh - for the Grand Prix shoots and yes FULL size targets from 45 Yards on out which for me if shooting Hunter would ad several points as it is fairly easy to bracket ( one way or another ) range find if you know the exact Kill Zone sizes and 40-45 is right where a 12x -lower- scope starts to fail you in ranging. Hey and Charles can stop practicing any long shots.
Also AAFTA patch's are being ordered ( always nice to have some small low cost sticker , patch, shirt, other from your favorite hobbies, might just start a conversation that isn't about our Grandchilderen ?) and should cost about $6.00 and support FT and the airgun community in general. And I made deal to sell a little gizmo and will likely pick up a picatinny rail adaptor for the accessory rail on the .30 LRT RAW, great saving shipping. And got pricing on a couple of different printed side wheels.
I also took along Tammy's AA410 to sell as saving on shipping is always nice for both parties but no one that day so she may need to advertise it or maybe just wait for the REALLY BIG 2 DAY TN STATE shoot coming up soon May 14th & 15th:

Hope everyone else did a bit of airgunning this weekend, and naturally everyone needs to get to a match as often as possible, it is time well spent.
