Well I have joined the ranks of those who have been scammed. I text a person that I thought I could trust. We agreed to a trade. What I got back was a rifle that had been stolen from brawler1588. I am in the process of getting his gun back to him. I will be out of the only air rifle I have. Impact m3 bronze with a bronze backbone and an extended bipod rail. The person that has is called himself John Cully at 506 heatherhill Rd. Columbus Ohio. Or Anthony Jarvis. Same address. If you have any suggestions for me on what to do next. Please text. Brawler is offering a very good price on his rifle but I doubt I can afford it. Hind sight is 20-20. 307-630-6531

First off sorry for your loss/hassle.

Secondly, only use paypal (not f&f) for online transactions, additionally use a credit card on top so you get dual protection through both paypal and your credit card/bank. This CANNOT be re-iterated enough.

And DO NOT trade guns straight up, ever...unless in person. Big red flag.

So sorry to hear this.
How did the person get Brawler's gun? Since Brawler would have been out his gun entirely without your help maybe the 2 of you could agree to 1/2 price. Then each of you would only be out 1/2 of the total. Just a thought to take out some of the sting for each of you.
I was recently scammed as well so I feel for you.

Did you ship to that address? I'm curious because it doesn't show up on a Maps search?
I'm not a believer in PP or other payment services. But in cases of any question, I have asked for a photo of the seller's photo ID, showing the shipping address, with the item for sale included in the picture(s). With that, a personal check showing the same address.

This is one of the reasons I pushed (unsuccessfully) for 100 meaningful posts before gaining access to the classified section and if you spam to 100 you never get access. I've seen this on other forums and it's the only thing that worked to stop scammers. They won't put that much time into multiple accounts to scam on. If you really want to stop scammers on a forum you can... 99% anyway. Some forums just want maximum traffic to pump up their revenue stream.

This site could offer a middle man service for high end gun trades for a small fee. Sure you'd have to pay shipping twice and the fee, but that's better than losing an entire gun worth potentially thousands. Accounts can be compromised, people can be duped by look-a-likes. If the service were made available it wouldn't be too big of a burden. It's quite common on other sites I frequent...for assets worth far less. Just a thought.

Absolutely agree 100%. So simple that it just doesn’t make sense to some. I used to be on a forum that you couldn’t even view the classifieds until you achieved a certain status. Until someone does something, we will always have these topics to read. Grown men that really want something are easy targets. This scammer is just another who’s figured that out.

I was recently scammed by a member since 2015 with 1000 posts! Unfortunately nothing is foolproof. I always try to have a conversation before dealing with someone Facetime is even better. I have been asked to walk outside and show my address before. A good idea if you ask me.
Very true. I think I remember you talking about it and I was shocked. Then shocked once again when another name was brought up as another scammer. I guess the buyer is just going to have to make the seller jump through enough hoops until he feels comfortable.

Exactly what needs to be done. Especially if someone who joined in 2015 nd had 1000 posts stole from another member, then needing 100 quality posts is a good deterrent.
