That Jarvis name sound familiar in regards to chicanery.

Edit: I knew I recognized that name. He’s on the AGN known scammers list.

It used to be pinned or linked to the classified forum. Now you have to go to the bottom to the screen and go through the site menu down there to access the “Known Scammers List.” If you don’t know someone or are unsure if they’re trustworthy, review their AGN feedback via their profile and don’t be afraid to ask other members if they know or have dealt with the individual of interest.

Sigh, this should be a disclaimer one has to look at every single time before accessing the classifieds.

We have a lot of info on the guy, place(s) of employment. His wife's child day care business, her realty company, etc. Michael is aware of him, the police are aware of him, still nothing is done. Now there is a smoking gun and still, it doesn't make sense.

Now he's dragged yet another person into this.

Well I have joined the ranks of those who have been scammed. I text a person that I thought I could trust. We agreed to a trade. What I got back was a rifle that had been stolen from brawler1588. I am in the process of getting his gun back to him. I will be out of the only air rifle I have. Impact m3 bronze with a bronze backbone and an extended bipod rail. The person that has is called himself John Cully at 506 heatherhill Rd. Columbus Ohio. Or Anthony Jarvis. Same address. If you have any suggestions for me on what to do next. Please text. Brawler is offering a very good price on his rifle but I doubt I can afford it. Hind sight is 20-20. 307-630-6531
Please post the serial number of the m3 if you have it, that way we can all be aware and vigilant.

Good lord that’s a long list of scum on the scammer list.

Someone who doesn’t mind spending $25-$35 to do so (shipping) could probably send one of these guys a double-boxed 2x4 with a couple of sacks of 💩 just to let them know what we think about them. You might even come out ahead a few bricks in the trade if you’re lucky.

First off sorry for your loss/hassle.

Secondly, only use paypal (not f&f) for online transactions, additionally use a credit card on top so you get dual protection through both paypal and your credit card/bank. This CANNOT be re-iterated enough.

And DO NOT trade guns straight up, ever...unless in person. Big red flag.
I can personally attest that PayPal or eBay will provide zero protection in recovering funds for a stolen item as they do not want to spend any time in court. Been there done this. File a police report immediately and be prepared to provide very good documentation - !

In the original case of the stolen huben the Police were of little help, was very disappointing.

That is anecdotal and I've had the opposite. They request you file a police report to confirm authenticity, and upon providing them with a report they will follow up, at least in my case. YMMV. It's why I said use paypal + cc for dual protection, and even your bank may require such reports be filed prior to taking any action.

Shipping fully insured with USPS or FedEx “signature required” eliminates most chances of this happening.

USPS or FedEX does not insure packages stolen after delivery, and op's scammer certainly would have no issue signing for it. In his case with the trading of guns, the only way to prevent being scammed is having a middle man whom is sponsored by the site or the like.

I completely agree, Anthony Jarvis is a predator, he befriends users here , talks to them for months, even years at a time, then finally strikes a deal, at this point you feel comfortable as Brawler did sending him the huben and as the OP posted. Its pretty terrible, hes been at it for years.

I missed the stolen after delivery?
If a signature is or was forged - that is a whole bigger legal issue for the carrier
Using an FFL is also a good idea. Were police and reports and insurance claims filed?

Shipping Insurance wouldn't cover this scam. Not gonna go on about it read OP and put 2 and 2 together.

This guy is a first class piece of sh*t. The worst part is, being over state lines, there’s not much you can do legally without some pretty solid proof. Matt (brawler) is a very good friend of mine, and I’ve been trying to help him with this whole situation from the beginning. Anthony Jarvis preys on those that are trusting and kind. I’m sorry this happened to you, and I’m glad you’re man enough to do what’s right. I believe in karma, and this asshole will get his!
