Scammers smartening up?

I see a lot of new names on the forum lately, and some are posting multiple posts within minutes of each other with broad questions in multiple forums. I’m not saying 100% they’re scammers, but when I first joined the forum, with acception of my introduction post, I read other posts for weeks without posting. Now if they were semi legit questions or posts, I might not be as skeptical, but posts like “what’s the best gun for the money”, and “what events are in the Fort Worth Texas area” when my profile says I live in Oklahoma, or “what’s the biggest game you’ve take. So far” ALL within minutes of each other. Just seems fishy. 


now I know the post numbers changed to allow you to post in classifieds or private message, so is this the scammers widening up in order to keep doing what they’re doing!

Look at the string of posts from someone from Russia last night. A boat load of posts all within a very short period of time. It says the person joined yesterday every one of the posts were jibberish, but he was allowed to do so met his quota and here we go again

We need to smarten up as well; do a name search and see how long they have been on and what they are posting. That will give us a snapshot of whom we are dealing with.

Early this morning we pushed some new features to help deter scammers & trolls. Had we implemented them last night, these features would've effectively stopped that Russian bot before they started.

Everyone's advice is notated and taken into account. We are constantly improving this site to make it safer, easier, and more accessible to everyone.

A while back I posted my personal rules for buying used guns from individuals. One of those rules was watching out for poor grammar. Some laughed, but it has kept me out of trouble for many years. Poor grammar is one of the indications that you're dealing with a scammer. Granted, it might be legitimate, but why take the risk.

I am new here, and posted a WTB. I think that I might have been scammed. I was sent "current" pictures that were time stamped so I assumed it was legit.

After the sale I googled the images and they were from 2016 (Reddit)- Dumb mistake on my part. If it gets shipped I will update, but looking back on the sale, there were way too many red flags.

I helped the OP fish out and see if a deal was legit, a phone call is one of them the other is have them do something funky hand write your username holding so and so fingers up next to the item you are looking to purchase. Hope you get your items in question and if you every feel its a shady thing ask someone
