scba filling locations

Same with fire stations in my city. To be honest though, they do take on quite a liability when a tank of unknown history comes in the door. It’s bad enough in a dive shop, but they’re insured for that. Sad though when person/s get hurt or killed from a failure.

My local dive shop only fills to 3442, so with a 4,500psi scba it’s a lot of wasted space, so I went the Alkin W41 route and two 74CF carbon fibers. When I’m to old to shoot or lose interest in the hobby I can sell the compressor for a decent dollar.

I found a dive shop near me. It was only $7, took just a few minutes, and they did a quick inspection of the threads, fittings, and o-rings. I also found some paintball shops, but they were a few dollars more and I felt more comfortable with the adults at the dive shop than the kids at the paintball shop.

This was after my cheap compressor failed. It was cheaper to go to the shop than to buy a repair kit for the compressor.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking of buying a small scba tank (118 cubic inch) but wanted to confirm a filling location near me. I have now confirmed a filling location. The idea I have is to fill the small scba tank at a local dive shop the first time and then top it up after that with my hand pump (Hill Mk5). I basically shoot once a week (about 40 shots) with an AEA HP SS MAX 0.357, which I would fill to approximately 3,600 psi. I figure the small scba tank will give me 5 fills of my pcp, which will give me my 40 shots. After that I will have a week to slave away in an airconditioned space at topping up the small scba tank. Thoughts?

Smoker,

Check out thread, "Another Happy Yong Heng Owner," on page 4, or maybe 5, by now. This is the path many of us have taken when in your situation. A genuine Yong Heng can be had for less than $280 and can last for years with proper care and operation. If interested, search "Yong Heng," in the AGN SEARCH section, you'll find plenty of information there. Freedom to shoot as often, or as much, as you want, comes with the "air independence" a Yong Heng offers. Best of Luck, WM

Richieg,

Wow, that’s crazy. I worked part time for 10 years in a dive shop and got air for free, sll that time the customers paid $7 a fill. Curious what it is now. Compressing air is never cheap, especially to 4,500psi.

In 2021 I paid $12 per top off and $20 for a fill from empty on a 45 min/74 cu ft SCBA tank. Prices are still the same to my understanding.
