Scba safety

To be on the safe side?.....No.
Do I do it? You bet your a$$ I do it and I'll continue to do it too. Am I worried about my own safety? ABSOLUTELY! Am I worried that my expired SCBA tank will explode and kill me or my wife? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
There'll be a lot of howling about this, I'm sure. But I know the rules and regs are written specifically to protect the hides of those who write the rules and regs, not you and me. The rules and regs are written not only to protect lawmakers and insurance companies from liability, but to make big industry and money making and higher prices......all in the precious and holy name of "SAFETY"!!!
I've got two expired carbon fiber SCBA tanks each full at 4500 psi, every one of which I pumped myself with my own compressor. I fill them with filtered and dry air. I don't abuse my tanks. I'll use them fearlessly until I die of old age.
Let the howling begin.
