scope choice

i am ready to place an order on a Hawke 17.110 with high mounts and it is a little longer than i want, but before i go on with the order, maybe i might have missed a scope that will be a better choice, the Hawke is a 20x max, which is ok,but a little long at 15.4" with a 42mm obj dia, is there anything i may have missed in a 20 or 24 max any shorter with side focus
