Scope for field target

While being mid X range at 16 is great to keep FOV bright (y) You need to set up your parrilax wheel AT THE X power you will use ( 16X assuming ) Setting at a higher X you will find Very few scopes will range to the same wheel position at a lower X ... Close but not always accurate enough IMO.
Also get your Ocular focus set FIRST, paint mark its location as any latter changes in ocular adjustment will change parrilax focus slightly.
Motorhead - what scopes do well for pistol hunter class FT? Eye relief seems challenging?

Having shot AAFTA PFT in the hunter class going on year 8, Had 3 scopes I've played with and ONE that stands alone as excellent.
That being a HAWKE PANORAMA 4-12x50 AO It has exhibited a nice shallow DOF 10 to @15 yards and is real good out to @ 35 yards having it be a perfect scope for this chore.
Here in 2023 the rules changed allowing optic with higher mag than 12X to now be used so long as at 12X under use. Being a SF is easier than AO I'm using a 8+ year old Hawke 4.5-14x42 10X reticle sidewinder at 12X, tad better glass and parrilax ranges really well 35 yards and under. if a FAIL, we go back to the panorama.
7 State AAFTA Hunter PFT 1st place STATE championship wins using kinda validates it 🤙 But change is good too.
Snappy in/out on parrilax is key !! in PFT we"re so lucky to be 35 & less yards.
