Scope for RAW HM1000X LRT?

"Marksman3006"How much are you looking to spend on a scope?
Good question. I'm looking to get the best available for the intended use, which is benchrest target shooting at 50 and 100 yds. I'm not smart enough yet to put it any other way. If I can't afford it I'll work backwards. The scope Crutcherro1 mentioned is within my budget.

Best would be a sightron, khales, and march. You would be looking at some serious money for those optics. If a 16 power will do you, I would look at the swfa ss fixed 16 power. If you can live with a 15 power you could also look at 3-15 power SWFA SS. If you need more magnification.....like say a 24 power, I would suggest a hawke airmax 6-24X50. It really boils down to how much your looking to spend......Just make sure that your scope can focus down to at least 20 yards......and preferably a little closer. You dont want to spend a bunch of money for a scope that only focuses down to 50 yards.

"Scalf"Sightron 10x50x60 with dot on crosshairs and hash marks. Great scope. Pyramid Air has them.

Parallax adjustable from 9 to 55 yards. Does this mean you cant get the parallax out beyond 55 yards?
That's probably the FT model, I've got the 10-50x60LRIRMH (quite a mouth full.....) which can be dialled down to 13yrd according the specs.
My sample however goes from 10yrd to infinity. Great scope, and absolutely worth the money.

Ten four. Ten to infinity is more like it. I would like to handle one of those in person. Should be an awesome scope. To the original thread poster........make sure you get the model that goes from 13 to infinity if your looking at these.

I was going to get a Sightron Slll for the RAW LRT I ordered a month a go but...... I did pickup an Athlon Argos BTR FFP 34X that a lot of guys are talking about. I can't review it without mounting it and shooting with it. Just looking through it, the scope appears to have better clarity than my other Hawkes. If it does not pan out I will go for some pricier glass. I think the RAW deserves it!

ScalfMarksman3006 the new model is 10 to 300 yds. Clear as can be on 50 power at 50 yds.

Curious, where did you get that info? :)
Like I said before, my "regular" SIII does 10-infinity.
Great scope for sure, I yet have to see a Chinese made scope which can compete with the Japanese scopes.
I've had a couple of Hawke Sidewinder tac's, but they are in a completely different league compared with the SIII's (unfortunately in a negative way).
Can't go wrong with a SIII.

After looking more closely at some prices for Sightron, Kahles, and March scopes it looks like one could easily spend $3k or more on these quality scopes, an amount I'm not prepared to spend. So after further thought and in direct answer to Marksman3006's question above I plan to limit my purchase to $1200. Here's a list of what has been suggested so far. Again, this will only be used for benchrest shooting at 50 and 100 yards. Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Athlon Argos BTR 6-24×50
Sightron 10-50x60LRIRMH
MTC Viper Pro 5-30x50
Vortex 4-16x50 Viper HS LR Series

If BR is mainly your goal, then I'd definitely opt for the highest magnification available within your budget.
10x fixed is nice, but IMO not particularly usable for bench shooting.
You might also take the Sightron SIII 10-50x60 LRTD with target dot in consideration, actually it is a steal in the US at 889$, and you probably will not need the illuminated reticle of the LRIRMH. (Never used the IR on my scope)
IMO for bench shooting, that's the way to go :)
I wish we could get the SIII's in EU for 889$......

Apparently the scope is discounted because of the target dot reticle. The same scope with the other reticles aren't discounted as much. How is it that the target dot is desirable for bench shooting?
