Scope Question (problem solved)

I’ve mounted a Hawke Airmax on my GAMO Bone Collector, but I’ve ran out of room on the front end and now I can’t break the barrel and I can’t slide the scope back any further.

Can anyone give me some ideas on what to do?

Hawke makes good scopes.. no doubt. But I've had great luck with Leapers/UTG's on springers of all kinds from R7's to Kodiaks and RWS 54's. They'll hold up just fine.

I looked at your like 👍🏼 but it’s not the height; it’s the length of the scope. It’s past the time to call (anyone) but I thought someone here might have seen this before… Surely I’m not the 1st lol 😆 I’ll call Hawke or GAMO tomorrow but THX!

Its not the scope per se, but the monster loading port on that gamo that is causing your issues. You have three options.

#1 slide the scope back a 1/4". It might be a little uncomfortable, but relax your shoulder and it might work.

#2 get extra high mounts or dovetail risers. This should give you enough clearance so you can use that scope. It might mess with your cheek weld a little bit, but you really shouldn't use a very firm cheek weld with a springer anyway.

#3 get a shorter scope. Hawke makes the Airmax compact series or the vantage 2-7 that should work no problem. UTG/Leapers work fine, but Hawkes are definitely the superior product.

Thx I’m new to this forum and cannot DM you yet… but I feel like Hawke has some explaining to do because this was on Optic’s Planet (where I bought it) I‘ve mounted more scopes then I can recall but this is my 1st air rifle that I’m trying to dial in as a gift for my grandson this spring… Pic only to show you I ain’t sum city boy ok 🤣

Ah I see - so rated for Air Rifle just means that it will survive the unique two way recoil of a spring piston air rifle. That has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not the scope will fit your particular air rifle with your particular mounts.

Like I said, nothing wrong with any of the products you have. Just the way they all intersect with your body.

No need to justify yourself with pictures. Even if you were some city boy (like myself) my answer would have been the same. Airguns are quite a different game from powder burners. It's not a 100% cross over. A lot of overlap, a lot of similar skills, but air rifles are somewhat of a different animal.

THX Nico; I‘ve looked at some of the Hawke ‘compacts’ so maybe it’s as simple as I bought the wrong scope… easy fix; that’s why I started this project early ha ha coz 💩 like this happens all the time! Cheers, R
