Scope Ranging magnification?

I am playing around with Strelock. In the scope setup it has a setting for Ranging magnification and sates is the power the reticle was calibrated for.

What exactly does that mean? Does it mean that at different magnifications zero will be different? Or does it simply mean that if your using the mil-dots to calculate range that you have to do it at that certain magnification?

Your scope is calibrated for 10x (you can check it with one of these: http://www.anstonftc.co.uk/targets/ )

Your reticle is the same size no mater the magnification, but your target is not, so your mildots are only "true" mildots ( 10cm at 100m, 1cm at 10m, 5cm at 50m) at 10x power. If you go down to 5x it will be halfed, so 20cm at 100m and 10cm at 50m. That means if you have a holdover of 1,5 mildots at 10x, dialing your scope to 5x will make that 3 mildots.

If you increase magnification it is the opposite, 1,5 mildots becomes 0,75 mildots at 20x. There's plenty of videos on youtube to figure this out.

Once again, this site is really good info and printable targets that will tell you at what magnification your scope reticle is true Zeroing and practice targets[/QUOTE]http://www.anstonftc.co.uk/targets/embed/
