OK guys here's one I can't figure out. My scope is shooting at about 7 o'clock 3 inches from bull ( at 20 yards) and my elevation is all the way up. How can I get back to a normal adjustment. I had this rifle dead zero before. I moved the adjustments about 40 clicks and have no more room to go up. It hasn't been banged or anything. I really don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
Are you saying that you haven't touched the rifle, and suddenly this change in POI occurs? That sounds very mysterious. Regardless, if the mechanical adjustment is maxed out, you have to consider alternatives. Shimming the scope is my first thought. I have used strips of aluminum drink cans as shims, and they worked well. I expect that about .020" will be the practical maximum. If you are 3" low at 20 yards, that's 15 MOA, which is probably about the most you can achieve from the aluminum strips i suggested. Good luck.

it is like you call a mechanic on the phone and say my car is making a noise what do you think it is
you post was good minus the brand and model scope, so we know if it is a piece of crap or a good scope
and the model rifle so we would know if the rifle had droop and how hard the rifle is on scopes SPRINGERS
you say it was once right on POI, now no elevation left
so, it has been stored and now bad it is not the rings they were fine before could be the stock is loose and check the screws the scope has moved in the mounts but you already checked that i would have installed a new scope on it by now but i own lots of scopes

so, we are back to what is the noise in my engine and you are the one to tell us

Break barrel rifles sometimes have barrels that droop, and need to be bent to center.

If all that us good, cut a couple shimms from a coke can to put under the scope in the rear ring.

Thick foam tape worked very well for me. Easy to trim and doesn't slide around.

Ya, just a lot of patience and counting . Do elevation and windage balanced. ( X amount of turns elevation turret then x amount windage turret). Keep everything headed to the center of things .

1/2 way is 1/2 way I guess..



You could index mark the turret and spin it 1/2 way around without counting too.


I guess you check all the tube vids on that methods of doing it .? Just review then and try one and see

I measure my mounts with precision calipers. These make measurements quite reliably to the hundredths of a millimeter. That way you can check to see if your scope mount keeps the scope parallel to the barrel or if it is intended to give some fixed amount of tilt to your scope.

If your mount isn't "flat" you want the short end of the mount to be on the barrel end, and the tall part closer to the trigger/stock end.

Thank you all. I ended up removing the scope and mounts like suggested. I realized that the mounts were adjustable elevation mounts and recentered the scope adjusted the front mount up one notch, It took a while but I did it. I was ready to throw the whole scope and mounts out the f^&*ing window but with a lot of patience I got it done. I sorry I did not give enough information But all your suggestions helped.
