FWB Scoped the FWB 300s

Just a quick update regarding the muzzle tuner.......After spending more time with this set up, I ended up adding more weight to this tuner. The aluminum was just too light and would not perform as consistently as the rifle did with the factory front sight installed. Looking to get the weight as close to the factory front sight as possible, I bored out the aluminum tuner and inserted a 22mm OD section of phosphor bronze, machined to fit the barrel. This got me very close to the weight of the factory sight. Still needing a bit of weight, I added a 6mm tuning spacer, machined the same as the muzzle tuner with a bronze core. This brought the total weight up to almost 10 grams heavier than the factory sight. Keep in mind that the factory front sight has more weight forward with the aperture on the very end. The tuner is now extended 6mm beyond the muzzle with 6mm spacer at the rear. A second row of M4 grub screws was also added to increase rigidity.

Much nicer set-up with consistent performance on target.

So, if anyone decides to install a muzzle piece on their scoped 300s, I would keep the mass weight at least as heavy as the factory sight, preferably a bit more. The 126g factory steel sight helps to tame the muzzle. Just sharing my experience.

That muzzle weight is pretty classy looking, great job!

I made one from 1/2 inch PVC and some spray bomb black paint. It lacks the panache and sparkle of yours though............

I never picked up on any degradation in my rifles accuracy with less grams out front, but with that said, I also never tried it with a heavier front sleeve.
Tightening up ones dispersal a few thou with a 300S is a BIG deal, thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I’m running the Maccari Arctic spring so the slightly quicker shot may require the added weight at the muzzle? I just know that it was hole for hole with the heavier factory front sight installed, but not so much with the 45g aluminum. No matter how far out I moved it, 45g was not enough to tame things down.
