how come I see alot of scopes mounted so high ? Just curious what the advantages are Thanks !
this one doesn't make sense to me. I would think having it lower would help. I just cant visualize it. I would love to see a diagram of how this works...It helps with the hold over on longer shots. If you look at videos of field target in the UK where they shoot 12ftlbs they have super high mounts on top of risers.
Yes I have the same issue and have to do the same thing. But I am sure it's not the case for everyone and I was wondering why they were mounting them so high. I was guessing it's for holdovers but never understood how that worked.I have a fused neck that won’t allow me to snuggle into a rifle with a low mounted scope comfortably, but it’s not an issue with the high mounted scope.
An adjustable cheek piece is very helpful to me.
The following diagram was created for a different topic but it works to illustrate the point being discussed here. The top diagram represents a scope mounted low. At near distances, the pellet's red trajectory line and the scope's blue line of sight track closely together. But at a distance, they diverge quite a lot.I would love to see a diagram of how this works...
