Scopes with best hold over reticle

The reticle on the Aztec is very nice for holdovers out to at least 100 yards. The Christmas tree make for repeatable hits in the wind. Has served me well. I don't dial elevation with this scope.

The second reticle also has a Christmas tree, but at 5 MOA spacing, which I find less useful at my sub 100 yard shooting. On this scope I'm constantly dialing elevation. Because the scope can take all that turret twisting. The Aztec I don't think it would survive constant dialing.

Hawke reticles work well for me but I don't mind a very simple reticle either. I have a few Primary Arms scopes that only have dots and they work pretty well for my use. Not as many distinct holdover spots but the simplicity is good. Seems for many rifle shooters it shouldn't make lot of difference until maybe 45 yards or more distance is reached, all dependent on power level.

My favorite holdover reticles have been Horus, mostly the H59.

Next I like the new Athlon APRS6 reticle with .2 mil hashes roundabout. Also the APLR mil reticles in the Talos 4-14 and the Ares BTR.

With all these reticles you can hold within one clicks worth by bracketing the hashes.

I used the H59 reticle to win a long range series holding over and off when everyone else was dialing so that shows how effective .2 mil holdovers can be. .1 mil at 100Y is .36" BTW.

Here are some of my favorite Long range Reticles I use them only in FFP - MIL/MIL for holdovers and all these scopes are Tier 1 class to me and what I use them for ,

That new APRS6 (ATHLON) is awesome also! Buying a Tier 1 scope and then paying big $$ for the Horus reticle isn’t easy for me. Rumor has it that you had something to do with the new Athlon reticle! 😉.
