Scored a marauder gen2 for $163 - anyone have some marauder experience??

I've decided to get back into airgunning after about a 6 year hiatus due to college and an obsession with loud car stereos.

After spending nearly 30k on the stereo and some other expensive personal things I'm ready to come back to a hobby thats a little bit easier on the wallet.

With my bank account drained from all this for the time being I was looking for a cheap PCP to get started again. I came from a customized condor previously so I couldn't buy anything to terrible since I was spoiled with the condor.

Anyways I was hunting around and noticed they had gen2 marauders on sale at cabelas for only $400. I also realized I had accumulated $260 from my cabelas card in points and the rest is history. I scored a brand new marauder for only $163, shipping and tax included!! Also picked up a benjamin 392 for a spare as well for my girlfriend to maybe use from pyramid air (=

I am really out of the loop when it comes to whats out there for PCP's nowadays, I noticed the airforce guns are still around but they are out of my price range for the time being, although the airforce is a solid rifle I will probably go with a crickett or an fx when funds allow. So I suppose the marauder will have to hold me over until then.

Is anyone rocking a stock or modified marauder? Would like to see what I can expect with this thing once I get it all dialed in.

Cheers!

Great score and welcome to the obsession! My gen 1 .22 is my got-to gun for anything out to 75 yards. AJ is indeed a very knowledgeable resource on the Marauder. My Gen 1 shoots well with all the JSB pellets with the 18.1s the winner by a whisker. The trigger can be set very light (search lawyer spring mod) and the fill pressure can be adjusted for lower pressure fills making them very practical for filling with a scuba tank. With luck you can find a used tank for very little cash, but make sure there's a place to get them filled in your area.
Have fun!

My .22 was good. I traded it off and got a .25 recently from Cabelas. The .25 IMHO is way better than the .22 in accuracy. It is very consistent in point of impact shot to shot where my .22 seemed to drift around a bit. I can hit a golf ball at 50 yards almost every time with the .25 and this was not the case with the .22 although it would hit clay pigeons every time at the same yardage.

One thing I did to my .22 that stabilized the POI was to put a band around the shroud that fits the ID of the barrel band. It's installed inside the band. Mine is aluminum, but I saw somebody with a plastic one at a FT shoot a while back. It seemed to really help mine stay consistent from fill to fill. Maybe AJ can comment on this idea. My .22 will smack paintalls at 45 yards pretty consistently.

If you look closely you can see the band-

"Jimborg"Man that sure is a nice looking stock, is it a Boyds?
The stock is made by Steve Corcoran of woods and water outdoors-I was observant enough (addicted to the yellow forum classifieds) to get a great deal on it used. It came to me pristine but is slowly getting "experienced" as the gun is a hunter primarily. Very comfortable and well crafted stock, the POI didn't change at all when I changed it out!
