This is probably a stupid question but iv'e got to ask it. I just got my Scott 45 min air cylinder and noticed to do not have to push in on the knob to turn it. Every video iv'e seen shows you have to push in on the knob to turn. Is this because it doesn't have air in the tank? And when you add air pressure the knob pushes out.

There is usually a spring that holds the knob out. When it's held out it is not engaged on the actual valve mechanism and spins freely. This is to help firemen from accidentally turning their air off while in a building.
Actually, I took mine out of my SCBA because I found it made it harder to use and I'm much happier without it!

I agree Tom, that point at at which it clears the latch when your going CCW can sometimes open the valve at the same time and maybe a little too far. I like them too being more predictable without the catches and the chance of a overpressure on your gun.

Thanks for the help. I guess they removed the spring before they shipped it to me. I agree that it will be easier to turn and control the flow of air.

I figured it out. If you want to keep the safe (push to turn feature) on, you back-off the locknut in center of knob. If you don't want the push to turn on, you tighten the lock nut. You do not have to remove the spring.
