Scout - Style Setups; Thread

Did some research after a discussion a while back; decided I could try and build a scout style rifle. seems like what airguns are technically designed for, per say..?
Basically, a rifle with a long eye relief scope. It should be (by definition) shorter and a...308? ...anyway.
Got me to thinking about what I had available and what I would be willing to cobble together.
I thought old school, so I grabbed the winchester.
Pistol scope?...only have 1 so I gotta use that one.
Now range for zero?
They used 100yards, I went with 50.
I'm just getting used to this scope still. But whoa!
I figured I'd slap the big Buck-Rail on and then thiugh about the last time the winchester and I tangled. wicked recoil..
In comes the limb saver barrel deresonator
I've used then on PBS before with great results and thought...why not? For.this build; as much help as I can get, the betterrrr.
So I slapped that on and chose the muzzle end for mounting side to hopefully keep the barrel from slamming backwards so much.
I'll be a monkeys uncle if it didn't help!
I literally have not had that much fun with the winchester since today.
What a blast!
SIG box was at 30 yards
Spinners at 50
Then I held up and was able to hit my 100 yard targets with quite minimal holdover compared to most(maybe even of them all)of my other scopes*from zero at 50 to holdover on 100.
Very very impressed bc I was using "cheap" pointed pellets
This is technically a poor man's build too

My only build so far to get 2 in a row hits on my 4" gong at 100(only a few of my slingers have tried this so far, but it did what it did)
Let's see what you guys have that's kind of a build like this

wonder if sliding the DEresonator 1/4 inch at a time to see if any difference for the better but since it works there i would measure and mark carefully right where it is now .

It's right up against the LDC adapter I figured I would start there as an easy reference point.

That's a nice set up you have there. I've been a fan of the scout rifle concept for a long time. I have two powder burner rifles set up with pistol scopes. A great combination is to also mount peep sights on the rifle and use quick detachable mounts on the scope so you can have easy access to both sighting systems.
I have not tried a long eye relief scope on an air rifle yet.

I like the way you mounted the scope. That's a clever idea.

I've got some canted iron sights set aside for it

I like the way you mounted the scope. That's a clever idea.

That's the only way I could get just enough eye relief/clear the break barrel breech/have enough dovetail leftover all in 1

I experimented with 4x20 scope rings on my Hatsan 125, was also surprised to see how well they held up.

Tell me, would these harmonics dampeners also be able to help out with the accuracy on a magnum springer? If so, what kind of difference in accuracy would I be looknig at, like how much would the groups shrink at per say 50 yds?

The last two pics in the description, I wanted to see if a "reflex" option would line up nicely, but ended up testing the rings themselves, if they'd hold up or start loosening, guess what? They didn't loosen, even after some 60-80 rounds.

Oh man! I wasn't able to hit much the other day. Whole diffestory today with that dampener toned down the shot cycle so much more than I thought. Less recoil, so less grip for follow through needed too. I might actually put another one(have one on both ends of the barrel) it still kicks but it's more ....tame? it was like $12? I figured it's.worth trying for that price

It actually does, the "muzzle end" or well the carrier for the front sight on the Hatsan 125 can be unscrewed and taken off.

Scout setup? Benjamin pump with barrel mounts, BSA 2x20 pistol scope. Worked great!..... other than apparently being super comfortable as a cat butt scratcher, and needing to be rezeroed when that happened.

Yes Sir.
I've been using the scout setup on my Sheridan's for a while now. It allows better loading access, and better pumping access.
