Screw stuck in shroud

Hello, its was time to clean the barrel of my Maverick. The screw for removing the barrel is stuck in the shroud. Any Idea's to remove it.
Sorry for my english.

Here are all the pieces of the liner, barrel, shroud assembly.

I reassembled my barrel/shroud and left the liner lock in the shroud then worked on getting that nut out without ruining it.

My solution was easy: I added a drop of blue locktite to the barrel threads, no liner inserted, threaded it onto the liner lock and let it bond.

I picked up the shroud/barrel combo and gave it a smart twist ccw and the liner lock nut popped loose and came out with the shroud.

Clean up the locktite and resume your day.

*Pro-Tip: When torqueing the liner lock, FX recommends 1/4 turn past finger tight. The shroud must have less torque or it will pull the nut off again.

I get the liner lock being stuck, but I am confused as to why you needed to remove all that to just clean the barrel? Are you refering to cleaning the exterior of the barrel and not the interior? I've never once thought of cleaning that portion if that is the case.

Because the liner lock has to be torqued on the end of the barrel/liner when reassembling. If the liner lock is left in the shroud, you cannot torque it properly.

If slugs or pellets come out of it, then you should be able to just use a cleaning rod with a brush and patches. I don't understand the need to remove the whole thing unless you were wiping down the exterior of it or swapping it out.

Cleaning rod?

Hard pass....

I pull the liner and clean it with a pull/pull patch worm, I'm sure most FX liner shooters pull the liner so they bypass the breach o'ring. Cleaning rods are for hard steel, not air guns.

I just want to clean the inside of the barrel. I like to do it this way, pull it out, remove the shroud, clean it and put some silicone on the o-rings.

If it were me lol == Leave the barrel assembly locked and secure in the rifle
+ Screw it all back together and take a hair dryer and heat the end of the shroud all the way around evenly a pretty good heat so you cannot grab it and continue holding with out burning haha.
+Then take the rubber backing of a computer mouse pad wrap it around the shroud and continue to tighten it together until the piece in the end of the shroud housing breaks free from The end cap piece that has the liner nut captive haha.
+as you continue to do this it will unscrew the end of the shroud piece and you will have access the the liner nut or you can do it the way firewalker described with the loctite above.

Best of luck to you. I have done it this way I described above numerous times with success always. (y)

You’ll be surprised as to how many folks use a rod AND a brass brush to thoroughly clean their modern air rifle barrels on a padded vise. To me, the pull through is left for either field use or in between the rod and brush cleanings. Been using a Dewey one piece rod with brass brushes and cloth mops for a few years now
