Seated Position

While I had my rifle in the thumbhole stock for the 10 meter standing target, I thought I would do some shooting from the seated position at 20 yards.
Would anyone be interested in adding a seating position challenge to the current standing position challenge for next month?
The two shots circled were after I realized I still had my scope on 30x and switched it back to 50x and forgot the poi would change.

I would think that you would be limiting the number of participants a bit, since I would imaginge not many people can strech a 20 yard course in their basements and such. I know I cant and its mch to cold here in Minnesota to be sitting outside in the snow taking 20yrd shots from the seated position.

Yet like John has stated start up a 20yrd postal competition and see how many are able to participate.

If you look I had said 10m, not 20yd seated. Even at 30yd seated you would have to define what seated is. I shoot from a bucket with a bipod "seated" right now. So does Shutik. Chas sits on a bum bag and uses his knee to rest his gun on. You guys should work out the target and rules. I'm down to shoot as much as I can.

How about this for a shooting position challenge:

10 meters
Sitting on a bucket using sticks or on a bum bag resting off the knee. Use of harness allowed when shooting off the knee? Maybe not as not everyone may have one?
Use the same targets as we used for the standing position challenge this month.
Shoot as many targets as you want, the top two count. I'll keep score and update the scores on the first post of the thread.
Thoughts?

From 10 meters with a bucket and sticks I would think it almost a lead pipe cinch to max the course. How could one miss from that distance in a braced position? Just for the heck of it, I will give it a try sometime in the following week and btw I have never shot off sticks in my life and I am for sure not the best shooter around here. I would be enormously surprised if I can't ace the targets.

"If you look I had said 10m, not 20yd seated." -I realized this but he had mentioned shooting from 20yrds and that's what I was referring to.
Just out of curiosity I shot some sample targets from both seated on a bumbag and on a bucket with sticks...I was also trying out a couple different pellets at the same time. I would say it pretty easy to miss the bull even in a supported position although those with a recoilless rifle would have an easier time of it.

Here is a couple sample targets, some of these shots arent accurate as I was trying to develop a seated position that would work in the area I have to work with(my knees were essentially up against a wall) and also trying to figure out how to shoot of sticks that were planted on a concrete floor. As you might imagine they liked to jump and dance around with every shot due to the piston recoil of my HW30.

I would think you would need a target with a higher scoring resolution where the rings are narrower all the way down to the 10ring. The target used in the standing league wouldn't quite suffice and wouldn't provide enough scoring difference for a recoilless rifle shooting from an assisted position.

I think I would suggest dropping the sling for now and if later on this garners more participation then perhaps open it up to more classes and such. I'm not certain if there is a large enough differential between using a harness or not or shooting off the knee or bucket and sticks or just break it up into two classes if needed, one for a bumbag and knee and the other bucket and sticks and see how it goes.

That's my two cents worth...
