Second night out on the RAT permission!

Second night out on the permission.

Please like! subscribe! and share! There were only 2 missed shots, watching these videos in 4k is so much different than viewing through the scope. I believe this coupled with the facts that I am shooting pellets with no expansion/hollow point is leading to the "run offs" each rat shot in these videos was actually collected though. They get a little burst and duck behind a cinderblock to die or do a dance for a while.

I am going to try shooting the H&N Hunters 9.57 gr which I will attach a picture of in the video to hopefully put them dead on the spot.

Video recorded with the SightMark Wraith 4k mini 2-16x32 Shooting my FX Impact MK2 .177, I will link the video to this setup in this video. Thanks again for watching

Ive still got a lot of practice to do with this NV scope, its a whole different ball game working with a digital screen versus real glass. If you've not looked through a NV scope you gotta.

Another really cool video. Really enjoyed watching. Looks like a lot of shots to the body.

The H&N Hunters are very accurate in my .25 however I didn't find them to be more effective than standard diablo pellets. They are made from a harder lead.

IMO you should try a heavy match wadcutter. The flat meplat and sharper edge transmits energy and produces a well defined and open wound.
Link to one example https://www.pyramydair.com/product/rws-supermag-177-cal-9-3-grains-wadcutter-500ct?p=232

ETA- Those are some portly bastages. There should be a competitive thread on here for heaviest (fill in your pest species here).

There are a lot of body shots, 100% with the resolution on the tiny screen of the wraith I am still adjusting, the recordings come out in a much higher quality/resolution than the view through the actual screen on the scope and being at 30-45 yards it becomes a little hazy. I still have a lot of practice to do!!! Thats 100% for sure! I would like to be able to get a head shot on these guys every time believe me.

You are very effective with your shot placement. Just don't see a lot of body shooting on AGN.
Which pellet are you currently running?

What are you running for an ir torch? Do you notice an improvement in your view quality when the binos are directed at your target?

I have a PARD 008LRF on the Maverick. The picture quality at night is really good but at 6.5x my FOV is half of what yours is.
The downside with the PARD is that it's a fair/useable daytime scope. Almost any glass optic is an improvement in daylight. I had it mounted on a 223 for awhile. It got pulled from that duty when I couldn't pick out a daytime coyote chasing chickens through the yard. The ol' reliable shotgun saved the ladies.

What I am trying to do with my postings is post the good and the "bad" I feel there are a lot of folks that only show the "GLORY or GLAMOUR SHOTS" , the guys that NEVER MISS. I don't want to be like that, im just a real, blue collar guy, doing his best and trying to get better.

Right now I am running JSB 13.43 gr monster redesigns. They shoot very very well, here is a video of me shooting them before night fall (I pulled the 5th shot), shots taken at 35 yards.

The IR torch I got with the Sightmark, the end of the video it was dark due to low battery in the torch. I did actually notice a huge difference when the BINOS were spotting, I actually would use its beam to find where he was telling me the target was, it worked beautifully!

Nice shooting and subscribed. Just a heads up if you dont’t know, when you are shooting around any other ir source, the wavelength may not match and you could get a wavy line in the video, security cams and trailcams can do that, or if the torch doesn't match. One thing i noticed using the ATN over hours of scouting/shooting is to give the eye a break more frequently than you think or wear blue light filter glasses like gaming glasses. Being that close to a screen for longer periods of time is never good. Unlike phones or monitors, theres no gamma or blue light adj, only brightness. I now scan with the binoculars or stream to the phone, but rats require some quicker acquisition and therefore through scope scouting, hence the faming glasses. Throw lever helps with rats too, super fast adjusting the focus and easier to grasp. Found one on ebay, 3d printed.

Best of luck, looking forward to your vids.

I have two aftermarket ir torches. One is a compact ir laser that I purchased from the UK. It is really good but most of my shooting is from inside the house. Bouncing an ir laser off of the window into your eyes will fry your vision. The other is an ir bulb that goes in any of my Sniper Hog Lights. When used in the 66, it is about the same brightness as the laser. Either will get me over 200 yards with the PARD.

The ir on the PARD is a laser also. Need to be careful where you're pointing stuff like that.

Keep the videos coming. I'm enjoying them greatly.

Welcome! Heres the throw lever i found.

Nice, you had a few acrobats 😂 Serving up some late night lead injections. Can you record with the binoculars? If you can that might be something to use as to show view from behind you. A perspective to show distance etc, Love the videos 💪

Oh the acrobats kill me, i really think if I had a round that would expand on impact it would cease the acrobatics to be honest.

Yes , we were actually discussing that tbh, like lay the video within the video to show depth, the mic on the binos is horrid and I dont have any real recording equipment , the sightmark pics up all the sound perfect and clearly.... clearly lol

Just mute or remove the soundcard from binoculars, it's pretty easy. Once you overlay all you will hear is the ATN mic. You can sync them by lining up the sound of the shots.

Ah yeah thatll work just fine! next time we are out on the permission, I am definitely going to do this. The atn records very clearly too!

To make it easier I usually start recording both devices at the same time, that way when editing you don't have so much to decipher. With hundreds of clips it gets tedious. Lol

Is that specific to running a 940nm along side a 850nm? I have never heard of such a thing.
Can you specify which combo of night vision ir produced the wavy line?

I have noticed that my green laser appears to flash when viewed through the PARD. Through a normal glass optic or the naked eye it appears to be a solid aimpoint. For close range, I'll use the green laser for holdover. It is set to parallel the bore so if it appears low in the scope, that is exactly how much holdover is required.

Dont want to de-rail the thread, but I see it behind my house and have seen it occasionally since at a ranch. My cameras are 940nm, and there at the chickens are about 34 degrees off my shot line to the coop and basically mounted horizontally. My shot angle from the perch is 21 degrees down, 31 yds. When I kick on the 850nm torch i see wavy lines. Turn off the cameras and use the torch only, no lines. Move to the other perch which is inline with the cameras and i can use both camera’s ir and torch. Must be an angle or reflection or density thing, saw the same thing from the cameras at a ranch when gearing up but never at a distance, always under 40 yds. Turning the torch down to low helps it. Both my 3-14 and 5-20 do the same thing. I dunno, strange crap happens to me and electronics.
