Seems to me like people are hiding , many of the neubie's don't even put a State in their profile ? Would be nice to know instead of offering a bit of help ,then finding they live 1/2 way across The USA .
Maybe i am just old and not used to being a faceless Keyboard lurking in the mist .

Your common read an address on the net, posted phone number getting scam calls ... YES, don't post that !!

As to the rest .... paranoia of the boogy man is alive & well :LOL:

Many remain behind the curtain so they can say act out with immunity... until such time ... as getting banned :cautious:

When I am doing business on the net I share whatever personal info that is necessary. If I am not doing business with a person it is not their business to know anything about me.

It is just the nature of online socializing. Just like the real world, takes all kinds to keep the world turning. People with a wish to maintain some level of anonymity are not rare nor are they aberrant.
In reality the vast majority of us will never meet in person so I have no curiosity about where members call home.

My kids were playing hide and seek. My youngest daughter had a great place to hide that the others didn't know about. Well, one time nobody could find her and she fell asleep. After a half hour to an hour the wife and kids are panicking. Next thing the neighborhood is looking for her. Another hour and wife calls the police. About that time she wakes up and comes out of her hiding place and you can imagine what happened after that.😂
