RAW Rapid Sekhmet gauge for HM1000x - Dimensional issue!

Just seen this thread and after buying two of the basic Sekhmet gauges I was going to fit to my Reximex Ixia/Throne but discovered that the thread depth on the block was pretty shallow so because the Skehmet gage has a small area with no thread there was not enough thread for me to feel happy about fitting them, so looking at the pic with the bottom portion removed this could work for me But can this be done with the smaller gauge?

Hi,
Because of the strength of the metal, I wouldn't worry about there not being sufficient threads to accomplish sealing. However, you might want to check with Nicole at Sekhmet regarding their new version which has a shorter nipple. Check my most recent post.
Thanks.
Thanks! I emailed them earlier and got a reply saying I could remove 1.5mm but recommended using CNC rather than a lathe and highlighting the point that too much pressure to the case could crack the glass, but I do have an engineering background, so maybe should have pointed that out.

I wouldn't feel happy about trying to instil with only about 2-3 threads catching, so will be turning it down, just wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason for the extended bit as in internal gauge mechanics.

Hi,
I had previously written about my experiences with Sekhmet, and I wanted to bring anyone who was interested up to date.

The Past: (previous post)
Just wanted to share my experience with the Sekhmet 28mm gauge and my HM1000x. I know from experience that analog gauges are not as accurate or robust as digital gauges (parallax, internal friction, inertia, hysteresis, etc) so I was excited to get my Sekhmet. After installation, I found two issues; one, there was a slight leak. Two, it froze. They provided me with a replacement, which had the updated firmware, and that has solved the freezing issue. However, the new gauge also leaked. I used the o-ring seal under the gauge body as suggested, but I couldn't get it to seal completely.

The damned nipple was too long!!! Upon removing the gauge and inspecting it, I found that the leading edge of the thread had stripped, and there was scratching on the receiver block where the v-block mounts. I did not over-tighten the gauge, so this is an engineering issue.

The present:
I waited several weeks to receive a “custom” gauge which had the nipple shortened. Using the provided o-ring under the gauge solved any leaking or fitment issues. The gauge has now been working perfectly for weeks.

Nicole Rae at Sekhmet said that they will be providing a shorted version of the gauge for rifles that require it.

Overall, I’m exceptionally pleased with the support I was provided. Problems occur. It’s how a company responds that makes the difference. Sekhmet and Nicole Rae demonstrated their commitment to excellent customer support.

I believe the new shortened versions are available for RAW HMx's 👍 I recently saw on their website.

The shortened threads will allow the Sekhmet gauges to work on the TM1000, HM1000, TM1000X or HM1000X rifles, but the 28mm diameter gauge face is too big to fit into the wood stock or chassis cutouts on some RAW’s. Just be aware if you order the 28mm gauge, it still may not fit.
excellent point. I forgot about the clearance issue.

Sekmet makes a 25mm version for RAW's 👍, just need to click on the 25mm shortened one.

Yes, but that is not the Pro version; it’s the basic one. For me the Pro is better because it reads in Bar, tells me how much pressure is used per shot, and how many shots left. I want the Pro, and Sekhmet used to make it in 25mm, but now only in 28mm.

My RAW's gauge is 40 bar off so just looking for a more accurate gauge, I know my shot count so just would like a more accurate reading 👍

My .22 RAW gauge is off by about 30 BAR. I also wanted a more accurate gauge so I ordered (4) from HUMA. I also ordered some extra parts so that I can test them with a known good pressure gauge. It only took about 3 days for the parts to get to me. 3 of the 4 gauges were dead on. 1 of the 4 read 10 BAR high. Overall excellent quality! The next time I degas my RAW I plan to swap out the gauge.

Thanks! That's AWESOME! I have gone thru 4 other gauges, some by different manufacturers....NONE were close! My first one was 20-30 bar off, should have been satisfied with that one...😂. I will either order a couple Huma's in case one is off and or a Sekmet....h'mmm....

You can get thicker dowty washers on Amazon if that helps.
Dowty washers wont seal the gauge on the RAW, because the quick-fill v-block has an o-ring pocket cut into it. A dowty washer is too big to fit into that pocket, so it will leak. You must use a washer on the RAW gauges. Don’t use teflon tape, because they aren’t 1/8 NPT tapered pipe thread, they are 1/8 BSPP straight thread.

The updated gauges which have the shortened nipple, have new instructions which specify NOT using the dowty washer, but instead use the o-ring.
