I have seen posts about scammers ripping off buyers, how does a seller protect against a buyer stopping payment as an example after the gun has been shipped.
so your saying that the seller should not trust the buyer BUT the buyer has to trust the seller to ship said item at a later date ? Trust is a two way street ! Both should sent the on the same day and include tracking numbers .If its a personal check, don't ship until the check has been collected by your bank. Or, avoid the risk and require some form of official check.
That's exactly what I'm saying. I've never shipped a rifle I sold until the money was collected. Similarly, I've never received a purchased rifle until my check had been collected by the seller. It's a buyer's risk, never known it to work otherwise. It's a lot easier for the buyer to verify the seller's possession of the rifle, than for the seller to confirm that the buyer has the money.so your saying that the seller should not trust the buyer BUT the buyer has to trust the seller to ship said item at a later date ? For generations, hunters and shooters have felt a kinship. And this would refer to firearms, not air rifles. The airgun hobby is newer, and the high end precision market even newer, and it probably includes a lot of folks who are not historically "gun people", and thus there is not the same inherent mutual trust. I don't know if there are many (or any) more bad actors, but there is definitely a fear of it. I may be totally wrong, just my opinion.I have belonged to several PB forums and still do to a couple.
In the years that I have belonged to forums the issue of buying from fellow forum members and getting ripped off has never been discussed anywhere near as much as here.
Are air gunners a mistrusting lot or are there more bad actors in our midst?
