Selling asking buyer to pay pp fees.

I think if the seller wants you to pay the extra fee, then pay it or pass , simple as that.

That's the problem. It's against TOS to use friends and family for good and service. My point is, it's a turn off and drives buyers away. Or at least drives me away. If I see sellers asking F&F or fees, bye bye Felicia. Just tired of selling something I want in the classified and then click on ad. And they ask for f&f or fees. Aint family. Aint getting f&f or fees lol.

I , for one, pay the fees.
Generally, by rolling them into my PayPal Goods and Services payment
Especially if the seller is picking up the shipping
It seems a fair trade-off

I will even pay the fees when a seller makes it a condition of the sale
And I do so without making a fuss
That said however, I consider the practice petty
Simply a penny-ante foolishness that could be avoided

Just imagine the clerk in the supermarket or Home Despot telling you he added the credit card fees to your total

That's my rant

I just picked up a well-cared for FX Boss 30
We negotiated lightly and I asked for the PayPal address
Of course, ready to pay the 3.5%+ 49 cents fee
When out of her mouth came
"Goods & Services please. The price includes the fees"

No I'm using $2k as an example. But I have I've buy things from seller and use paypal. They wanted me to pay with friends and family but I choose goods and services. So if I get scam I can report to paypal. They then message me to pay the fees to cover it before they can ship item even though I already paid the asking price.

So you made the choice to send via Goods when the buyer wanted F&F? That's on you my friend. This whole thread stinks of whiny entitlement. I don't take G&S - and not for any reasons listed here yet - simple matter of fact is I view a Classifieds deal here as a tag sale or swap meet type of transaction. It's a cash deal if we were face to face - so it's F&F or some other form of cash deal remotely.

If I were the seller in this transaction (and was even willing to accept G&S) I would have refunded your payment immediately as you sent it in a manner not agreed to. Then I would have given you the option of F&F or G&S + fees. As other's have mentioned - like it or move on.

But are you paying attention to what people are writing here? You're in a major grey area and everyone here is posting alternative views. It's about trust and establishing a good reputation for yourself.

While adding 5% as a previous post suggested, there have also been complaints about folks selling making "money" off the higher actual PP fee.
There is NO WINNING, but a lotta WHINING.
If it's stated in the sellers ad that the PP fee will be borne by the buyer, then there is no hidden agenda and all is in the open.
Stop whining, there is no value in it.

Yeah people like you and 90% in here asking for buyer to pay the fee. That is the problem. It is against TOS for sellers to ask buyers to pay the fees or ask for friends and family. One, you ain't my family, 2 you the seller pays the fee. It's that simple. Of course you could have followed the sellers instructions on how to pay. If his terms are not agreeable to you move on.

Any seller that insists on Friends and Family for a Business transaction is not to be trusted buy potential buyers.
Thats my opinion. Dont care how they TRY to justify it.

Someone wants what they want for the item. Asking guys to cover the 3 percent gets them no more money but less if they don’t ask. It’s actually making stuff cheaper for buyers. When I sell an item on eBay I tack on 15+ percent(to asking price)to cover fees so get what I want. Be no different than adding 3 percent to asking prices and saying you get a friends discount (for f&f payment). We start trying to control sellers. We lose them and that means less airguns for sale.

You really think that’s why sellers do it? Holy smokes, I wish you met half the people I’ve met so far in the Airgun community then. Most guys I met screwing you over is the last thing on their minds.

Theres a lot of trust involved in sales. Buyers and sellers get burned. Actually sellers get burned more on g&s payments. Scammers are running rampant. They ruined it. I freaking hate scumbag scammers.
Don’t rely on PayPal to back you. We can disagree and that’s fine. But trust me, PayPal is ruthless. Always do research before buying. PayPal will fight you on any claim. Maybe you’ll win?, but it’ll be a battle. I personally know guys who lost claims on a little pocket knife. PayPal said a pocket knife could be considered a weapon so denied it. Freaking nuts.
I see both sides of it but these guys asking 3 percent aren’t bad guys. Well aome might be haha. You could pay me f&f and if you don’t get your item you’re getting your money back. That’s how it should be but not all think that way.

Thats the whole point, it's your choice to not purchace it but its not your choice to tell anyone how much they want for the gun. If they want 100 you can pay 100ff or 105GS, the seller still gets what he's asking for. You guys are making this to complicated.

Why don’t you try being the one with no recourse if the deal goes bad? Why do you think the buyer needs to assume all the risk?

And this type of attitude is why I personally just keep scrolling when I see a for sale add that say F&F only.

It’s NOT about the god dam fees!!! It’s leaving the buyer with ZERO protection if the seller drops the ball on his end that’s big deal.

How freaking hard is it to understand?

1: buyers shouldn’t have to pay the sellers fees.
2: if i want to make the purchase, I’ll gladly pay the sellers fees just to have buyer protection.
3:what I won’t do is pay for an item with F&F BECAUSE I HAVE NO BUYER PROTECTION that way.

If your not interested in paying the fee, and you don’t trust Friends and Family then maybe that product isn’t for you.

Using friends and family is no different than sending a check or using another form of USPS money order there is never a guarantee that you will receive anything. It the sell has good reviews then you don’t have anything to worry about.

And if your worrying about the transaction then that is your problem, so you can pay the fee.
