September 2024 TEXtreme EFT Match Report

Twelve shooters contested Saturdays rifle match in conditions that, typically, became windier as the mercury climbed in both the rifle match and Sundays pistol match. As predicted by the psychic match director… correction- psychotic match director, the windier second half of both matches is probably what prevented the top shooters from posting perfect scores.

U.S. National and Texas State Extreme Field Target Champion Caleb Dickenson prevailed for the Match Winner awards in both the rifle and pistol matches ($150 and $100 Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates, respectively). The Champ posted a fine 58/60 with his Sightron S8 scoped .25 Scout Evo rifle, shooting 33.9 grain AEA pellets at 910 FPS. In the pistol match he shot 13.43 grain pellets 814 FPS in his 4-16X Helix scoped .177 Brocock Pathfinder to post an excellent 57/60. Great shooting, Caleb!

Derrick Wall nabbed Second Place in both matches, to take home $100 and $50 Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates. Derrick posted a fine 56/60 Rifle score with his .30 Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tac topped with an Athlon Cronus scope, and shooting 56 grain Zan pellet 890 FPS. He shot 13.73 grain pellets at 805 FPS in his Athlon Talos equipped .20 Brocock Commander pistol, to record an excellent 55/60 in the pistol match. Excellent shooting, DW!

Ron Robinson captured the $50 AoA Third Place gift certificate in the rifle event with a .25 Daystate Red Wolf topped with a Weaver V-24 scope and shooting 29.63 JTS pellets (a scorching🔥) 980 FPS. I posted a 52/60.

Sundays Pistol match conditions were similar to Saturdays, but with a couple points higher temps, and a couple-dozen percentage points higher humidities. It was plenty hot enough. 🥵

Many thanks to Airguns Of Arizona for their sponsorship of TEXtreme Airgun Sports Extreme Field Target Rifle and Pistol program. Folks, please support them that support our passion in so many ways.

Thanks also to PelletGage Jerry Cupples for your sponsorship support. Jerry just came out with a .22 rimfire BulletGage model that (I believe) is now available for purchase.

Paul Kocurek and Susan Gehrig supplied sandwiches and cookies for our September (and June) TEXtreme FT weekend. Thank y’all so much!

Billy Davidson delivered the very cool trophies for our upcoming 2024 TEXtreme EFT State Championships weekend, December 6-8. Many thanks for all your help, Billy.

More details will be forthcoming about the 2024 TEXtreme State Championships after some pertinent variables are worked out. However, there will (at least) be $2250 in Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates distributed to the Rifle and Pistol event podium placers. Thanks again, AoA!

Happy Shooting Y’all,
Ron & Maggyy

AEA and JTS pellets. Hmmm.. lol

Just as Crosman ignored my advice in 1998 to keep their Premiers ammo quality up if they wanted to remain on top, so, also is JSB ignoring loud calls to keep their quality up. Crosman quickly lost all its high-end ammo market share when their quality went to crap. JSB seems destined to repeat that experience.
