Air Arms Service question AA S500 XS

So I’m really picky about Airgun maintenance. I don’t typically wait for something to break or leak before I service it. Preventative maintenance programs work.
Since I discovered my AA’s shroud was stuck stuck I figured, it’s time for a full service and reseal.
Well my AA S500 XS carbine FAC regulated version was due so my first choice was Motorhead as he IS the best! but he declined this particular job. Next choice was David Slade but once David had my AA in house he advised me that he doesn’t work on the “regulated” AA’s. 🙁 as AA recommends replacing the regs rather than servicing them 😳
So I call Pyramid Air who sells this product and they advise me that Air Venturi is the warranty and servicing agent for AA. 😏
Well 💩 as I’m not excited about Air Venturi because of a compressor fiasco with them 2.5 years ago.
Here’s the questions:
1, What have you experienced, in terms of recent service from Air Venturi?
2, Does anyone here on AGN know any other “stellar” AA technicians who service the FAC regulated versions?
By the way - these guns can shoot!

Well, it looks like the air gods are trying to tell you something. If it ain't broke......just sayin.
AA are fairly easy to work on and the reg would, at most, be new o rings, but again, why? if it's working.
As a lifelong gunsmith, I can say one thing with confidence... I have worked on far more guns that folks "monkey'd" with and damaged something, that actual breakdowns. keep em clean was always my advise.
I'm not dissing you, I admire you for wanting to keep your guns it top shape, but the truth is, most.... I say MOST, pcp's don't require much upkeep. Having said that, I've owned more than a few AA rifles, and never once replaced an oring in my own. As I said above, though, I've had to completely rebuild guns that were taken apart to see how they work or whatever. AA is one of, if not the most, reliable guns around, they just hardly ever leak in my experience.

By the way, that's a fine looking rifle. The "stuck" shroud is probably loctited, and will need light heat to remove it.

Gotcha and hear ya - interesting to learn that AA recommends replacing the reg rather than replacing the orings. GRS make great stocks. Good news is David Slade did break the shroud loose for me 🍁

Just open it up and fix it! These guns really are not that hard to work on, and there are not very many rings inside to worry about.

Get some good divers silicone or high quality grease and some lint free rags. Go slow and lay everything out as you go and there is no worry. The thing I always forgot when working on the AA rifles I had was the little o-ring that sits on the transfer port tube and the upper receiver. Forgot that a time or two and it took me a bit of time to realize what was going on.

You could try Joe Korick in Vancouver Washington. He was an authorized Air Arms repair center for some time and works on most any airgun. Last I was at his place he had a sweet Daystate CR97 and a Huntsman he was working on for a member here.
As a side note, Joe can still shoot! He showed up to a Field Target match this summer after not shooting for several months and put on a clinic!!! Went 45/48 shooting open class.

I think any competent PCP smith can take care of it, Rudy. I got ya!
Latest Info from Air Arms regarding servicing or replacing the regulators:

Subject: RE: AA S500 XS FAC
Hi Rudy,

Thank you for your email regarding parts for your S500 XS rifles.

There is no need to replace the complete regulator and only the internal parts would need replacing. It can be difficult to strip down the regulator without the correct tools so perhaps that is the reason given.

Air Venturi are our importers, and we would always suggest contacting them for advice, purchase parts, or to have any maintenance carried out.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Sheila

Please note we will be closed from midday 23rd December and re-open at 9am on Thursday 2nd January.
