Wikipedia seems to think its between 1949-1950 because it does not have a made in USA stamp, which allegedly they put on in 1951 says wiki... not sure how creditable that is

Is it a .20 or .22
You will have so much fun with this little rifle. It's accurate and powerful. Critters trembled upon the site of my brothers and I as we left our house.
Doing the work yourself especially on Grandpas gun will be very satisfying. And it will save you $150

5mm .20 caliber the best. Fast hard hitting. Better than the .22
The pellet tins are awesome. Hang on to them and get some new .20 pellets to shoot.

So I looked at a book about the history of sheridan rifles, and from the design of it it is a 1949 or 1950 silver streak model C.
Where exactly should I be putting oil into ? Where it slides ? Or do I need to take it apart to do that

About to head out but just from browsing the pic I'd say its a 51. Its not a slab stock and it isnt flat in the buttstock.

I'm not sure what a slab stock is but I do no the butt is flat it is just a bad Angled photo .
I also have the original sight (gen 1) on it and it has never been replaced, they started making the second generation sights in 51.
It is also the first gen of the push down safety feature.
There was a book I downloaded that went into great detail about the different model out there.

It looks like there anywhere between 10-85 dollars. That's what there asking for online for a tin, I have 3 of the red ones and two gray tins pretty much completely full , I'm thinking of just hanging on to those and buying new ammo. Who knows what a full tin will go for some day

Those old school pellets aren't very accurate anyway but very cool to have as conversation pieces for sure. Get some JSB .20 cals from pyramid air on line.

Will be like new and last for decades if you keep it lubed.

Ditto on Baker Airguns if you decide to go that route. Dennis Baker is a big supporter of all things airguns and does excellent work on older Sheridans.
If you decide on buying ammo, I recommend the JSB's I'm linking here. They shoot better than anything else in my Silver Streak (1968) and my Blue Streak (1969).

Just an update guys:
I ended up dropping off my Sheridan to Baker and just got it back today!!! They were extremely fast at shipping it back to me. I did find out it is a 1949 sheridan model c that needed new gaskets and a new piston. 100 dollars later shes brand new! Thanks for all the help here

You might want to double check that; your gun wasn't available to your grandfather until the very early 50's.

Baker Air Guns is in OH. not too far from you , give them a call ,YES IT IS WORTH REPAIRING ! Silver Streaks are wonderful guns accurate and good hunters , Squirrels and rabbit . Fun gun for targets / plinking .
Personally i would try oiling the gun and leave it sit a few days , Watch a few Youtubes .
