Sherwood Airgunners July 21, 2024 Match Report
Sherwood Airgunners had their monthly Field Target Match Sunday July 21, 2024. With the Fingerlakes Grand Prix next weekend, Doug and I planned on making this course exceptionally long for some good long range practice. We shot the Highlands course and really stretched it out with 20 targets set over 40 yds, 7 of those targets were over 50 yards. To make this a reasonable course we had all 30 targets with a full size 1 ½” kill zone. That being said the Troyer rating was a 31.55. The shooting order of the day was shoot the FAR target first then shoot the FARTHER target .
We had 18 shooters enjoy a beautiful summer day of Field Target with temps in the low 80s with shifting slight breezes to make you stay on point. Although this was a very LONG course multiple people really enjoyed the challenge.
Hunter PCP had the most shooters as usual with 11 competitors. Jamie Marusiak had a great day and shot a 51/60. Doug Cunningham and Jeff Swartz were tied for first shooting a solid 52/60. To make things easier at our local matches we decide tie breakers on the most cleaned lanes. Jeff had 10 clean lanes and Doug 9, therefore Jeff got 1st and Doug 2nd.
WFTF PCP had 3 shooters and yours truly Keith Walters shot a solid 56/60 for the win which was also Match High score for the day.
Larry Gromacki shot a 52/60 in Open PCP for a good day and Matt Uhler continued his impressive shooting in WFTF Piston with a 52/60…FANTASTIC SHOOTING MATT!
I want to give a special thankyou to Paul Nickerson for making the lane marker numbers you see in the pics and Ted Andro for donating the canopy that we desperately needed today. We at Sherwood really appreciate all that have given their time and generosity to help this club become a great place to shoot air rifles for Field Target and Indoor Bench Rest. Thanks for everyone that came out for making this another great match!
