Sherwood Airgunners Match Report for 5-19-2024 Sherwood Hollow
With the Sherwood Forest AAFTA Grand Prix right around the corner we shot the Hollow course in preparation for this event. With all the rain we had Friday before the match there were spots that still had ponding water on the main trail on the Hollow course. Besides a few sloppy areas on the main trail we had a very nice day with temperatures reaching nearly 80* with a sun filled sky. Towards the end of the match we had some wind that would pop up and make you think about if you needed to hold for wind or not. Lighting conditions were somewhat challenging with all the shadows due to the sun and shade on this course. I know of quite a few people ranging too far and missing high on targets.
If you havent heard our Hollow course is quite different in the fact that the terrain is such that we have lanes shooting up and down hill….sometimes so much that it makes the shooter a little uncomfortable. This is particularly true if you are shooting off a bumbag. These challenging angles really test your trigger control and discipline.
Getting to the match we had 13 shooters that were up to this challenge. A number of them wanted to shoot the Hollow course to get ready for the GP next month which I was glad to hear. In Hunter PCP we had 8 shooters. Eric Jones who has recently come over to the dark side shooting a PCP shot a 48/60 which was good enough for a 3rd place podium finish. In 2nd place Jeff Swartz continued his good shooting and shot a 52/60. In First was Doug Cunningham just one shot better than Jeff with a 53/60.
We did not have enough qualified shooters in any other division to give an award but it is worth mentioning that Tyler Patner shot a match high score of 57/60 in WFTF PCP. Tyler once again is shooting lights out even on this challenging course. When someone makes it look easy you know there on top of there game and Tyler almost always makes it look easy.
So thankyou to those that came out and sorry if your shoes got a lil muddy. I certainly hope you will benefit from this experience next month if you shoot the Sherwood Forest AAFTA Grand Prix June 21-23.
Sincerely,
Match Director
