Match report for Sunday August 8, 2021

Sherwood Airgunners welcomed 20 shooters for their monthly Field Target match. Weather was great if you like it hot and humid with temps reaching near 90 but very little wind to affect longer shots. The course layout was on the shorter side with 21 targets set less than 40 yds and just 9 targets over 40yds. That being said the name of today's game was pinpoint accuracy on small kill zones at the farther side of their legal limits. This combination made the Troyer rating at a challenging 33.7 with no other factors put into the equation.

As the day progressed I quickly found out the shooters enjoyed the more realistic hunting yardages that most shots were set up at. When shooting I also noticed there was quite a few misses on the faceplates and this indeed was a challenge shooting these smaller KZs.

When our last shots were fired and the shooting was over we made our way to the clubhouse to see how everyone did. In our most popular division Hunter PCP we had a tie for first place with veteran FT shooter Jeff Little tied with newcomer Justin Roberts each posting a 51. Typically we would have a shoot off but under the hot muggy conditions the competitors decided to decide the victor on a coin flip. Justin called heads when the coin was flipped and heads it was so congrads to Justin on the good shooting and good coin call. Dave Hitchcock continued his good shooting of late and got 3rd place with a 48.

In Hunter Piston Nick Lawrence continued his good shooting with his TX200 and shot a 35 for first place. Not far behind with a 33 was Vincent Alessi shooting his TX200 and Hawke scope combo.

In WFTF PCP Dan Putz shot shot a Air Arms HFT 500 and shot a great score of 50. Dan is experimenting shooting different divisions this year and as always he shoots very well...nice job Dan.

Tyler Patner surprised us all when he pulled out a beautiful TX200 with custom walnut FT stock and shot a 45 with it after a bumpy start with his scope not being sighted in correctly. As usual his experience shined and he got on fire and shot well! I don't think I'll see him shooting a springer much but it did happen...I have pics to prove it!

Yours Truly Keith Walters shot Open class and shot a Match High score of 56. I used my Thomas/March combo and although the March has scope shift in hot temps it's still a great tool for the job.

Our last division Unlimited was shot by Ron Heckathorn and he used his RAW TM 1000 with beautiful blue/gray FT stock to shoot a 50. Ron's new to FT and it's nice seeing him back on the lanes after some health concerns.

On a final note I'd like to thank Baker Airguns for the donated merch that we used for raffle prizes as well as the $50 gift certificates. Dennis Baker has been very giving to the local Ohio Field Target clubs and it is greatly appreciated! I'd also like to thank Dave Kovach who shot at Sherwood for the first time. One last note is I'd like to congradulate Justin Roberts who made the 3+ hour trip to shoot with us. Justin is a new FT shooter and he quickly has made a name for himself. I love to see his dedication to the sport!

So there you have it....thankyou all for supporting 🌳Sherwood Airgunners🌳 we really do appreciate it!
