I can’t seem to locate my thread gauge for confirmation, but based off some quick measurements with digital calipers I’d say they are #10-32 stainless button head.

I kept losing the screws so I use a couple of high strength magnets to hold the cover in place. Works great and allows easy access.

I like your hour meter install. Very nice! 



I added one to mine also but I used 3m tape.

I just checked one of mine, and it threads right into a 10-32 nut.

Thank you all for the suggestions and help. I like the magnet idea. I actually work with magnets so I have quite a few to choose from. Once again, thank you so much!!

I used allen head socket screws which were large enough to screw on and off without tools. I haven't owned a Shoebox in years but the screws were common SAE and are available at any hardware store.
