Shooting bench NOT portable.

Wow so many suggestions!

I am going to have to rethink my plan.
I am going to eliminate the seat. That saves money and time . Everyone should have a bucket to shoot HFT so I’ll go that way.

I guess I’ll treat it with some sort of deck stain stuff from ace. I always use a top cover . I have left over fender covers that work great.

Not to worried about the treated wood. But I won’t be using treated wood for the top just the legs. Mostly because I already have some left over 4x4 from a fence project.

For the side rail I’m going to drill holes down a 2x4 then slice it in half. That should make a nice gun rack.
I have a nice router to go all around it when it’s done.

Thanks for all the input . I’ll get to it next week after the Indiana airgun show.
The bucket also gives shooters something to carry accessories to the bench in. Walmart has those "hot seat" camo cushions on the cheap. They work great on the bucket.

I am going to build the bench without a seat. That is a really good suggestion.
I will also build two seats. One that is 17 inches high. And the other at 19 inches.

That should be good enough for the public to use. I will suggesting people have a bucket for field target use. But I need to have permeant seating available. I’ll have the scraps from the bench to build the seats. So it’s no big deal.

I made the bench.
I decided to attach the seat because it was the best option. I am not a carpenter and can’t build a sturdy seat cheap without tools.
Plus these can’t go anywhere.

Still need to finish screwing the deck boards and sat down. Then set it in place and level it.

Gun range is really coming along.

Thank you. I am such a terrible carpenter. But it is solid. I ran out of batteries and it was raining. But I’ll finished it Saturday. It’s all pressure treated . I don’t think I’ll coat it for a while.

It's looking good! Good on ya for putting it and a range together. We need more of both.

Cheers,

J~

Thank you.
Field Target is genuinely a good sport. When I discovered it in 2011 I thought it was well established. I just anssumed everyone did it and every state has a state championship.
I was actually surprised that there are so few Airgun enthusiasts in the midwest.
After 9 years in Iowa I just want to shoot field target again and had to do something.

There is one of these in the scrap pile down at the barn. Every time I see it I think about cutting it up to make shooting benches. The top had long been replaced with 3/4" treated plywood.

The public school cafeteria special. I would love to see it turned into an official russian roulette en masse "tournament table" or a Benchrest table
