Shooting birds off of pull barn roofs ?

I see Ted shoot Birds all the time off of pull barn roofs seems there was a video where he said Pellets wont put a hole in it but i cant find it
i cant remember does the pellet do any damage to the roof ? or like on the grain Bend silos ?
farmer i work for has a ton of sparrows and starlings and he HATES them there pooping on the tractors waggons and everything i can kill a ton of them when they land on the ground but he also has pengons and so far havent seen them land on the ground what damage will a 1,77 caliber pellet do ? crossman hallow-points 10.5 grain ?

I think most of the time Ted is pretty far away and the roofs are angled so a low miss would likely deflect rather than pierce the roof. He does show a vid of one of his rifles making holes through an unused grain silo and dropping a pigeon roosting inside however! I think if you'r pesting inside a barn a .177 wadcutter doing maybe 600 fps would be about the maximum power you could safely shoot without holing the metal roof. It would be best to experiment on some scrap before you do any indoor pesting IMO, a very heavy roof might be OK, but thin steel or aluminum would be a no-no. It also should be mentioned that whatever is on the other side of the roof must be clear and safe since an upward angled shot will travel some distance!
Shoot safe,
John
