I tore the retina in my right eye about 18 months ago.....on top of my 20/40 vision astigmatism.....the surgery fixed the tear but has really screwed up shooting sports for me.
This forced me to change a whole bunch of optics on my firearms.
What helped me the most was a larger front objective lens (even if I have to use taller rings) and high quality optical glass.
My choice of scopes landed on the Vortex product range. On top of overall good quality and light collection.......the contrast when looking down the scopes beat the pants off of everything else.
For this of you with astigmatism I can old suggest you find "high contrast" optics
