shortening the barrel on a choked break barrel and accuracy

hello,

i am currently modifying a Walther terrus. i believe the barrel is choked, will cutting down the barrel effect accuracy? if so is there any way around the accuracy loss?

p.s. the barrel will be properly crowned after shortening

Short answer: NO!

These barrels were created with a choke purposefully, rarely do choke designed barrels perform better after being cut off. You'll find it much harder to find the right pellet as well.

Perhaps just replace the barrel instead?

thats what i was afraid of, so i think the barrel block/barrel is 1 piece i may be able to find a smith willing to take the work on and shorten it from the breach end
 
On the GTA forum a few people have cut and re-choked their barrels. Some use a pipe cutter with the blade rollers replaced by smooth rollers. There are images of more methods in the first thread below, but you need to be a member to see them:
