Shot a 50 foot rifle course tonight

My first time.

All prone off a bipod. 5 shot groups. The bottom right target was a double-feed.😳

This was not a match....just something the gun club does on Tuesday evenings in the winter.

A LOT harder than I thought! With my Ultimate Sporter 22 on Mid power.

Some of my fondest memories are of the nights spent as a teenager shooting on 50 foot indoor rifle ranges. Back in the day, mid 60s, when my Boy Scout Troop had a .22 small bore rifle team that used US Army training rifles, on loan from the Federal gov. and qualified for ammunition costing us only the price of shipping. We shot at local National Guard, US Army and a local private rifle ranges. Safe rifle handling, marksmanship and quality time with others sharing the shooting experience. Thanks for reminding me of the great times spent on a 50 foot range.

John,

I've shot pistol competition a lot of my 25 years with the State Police. I was 4th (tied for 3rd but fewer X's) in the state one year out of 40 top shooters. 7 points under 1st place. Shooting under pressure doesn't phase me.

I hope the gun club has an actual match like this, as I would love to compete again! This kind of shooting requires a good handle on all the basic principles of shooting in order to be competitive. I feel I would do at least decently the first time out.

Shooting at 50 yds is way easier than this.
