Should have never bought a SWFA scope

Because now I want to put one on all my guns. I have just been shooting in back yard, but it is a sweet scope. I got the mil quad reticle and really like it. My earlier post about concerns with non locking turrets was proven wrong as they wont be a problem. Nice positive clicks and easy to read numbers. Scope is clear and bright and the rear focus is nice and easy to get used to. Now time to start saving for another. Thanks for responses in my previous post.
 
It doesn't surprise me at all. It's hard to imagine the turrets on an SWFA scope being a problem for anything you could do on an air gun. they get nice stuff made those SWFA boys. 

The thing to do now is to also find one or two cheaper brands / models you are happy with for guns and tasks that won't benefit from great turrets or expensive glass. Realistically, that includes backyard plinking and most hunting where you want to just point and shoot. Save the expensive scopes for longer range work that requires more precision.

There are a number of options for decent lower cost scopes for people who use the reticle for corrections exclusively. for pure target shooting, the SWFA fixed power scopes aren't too expensive. There are a few others too such as the Weaver T series. 

For now though, just enjoy your new toy. A quality new scope is as much fun as a new air gun when the stars line up.

These are the most clear, concise scopes that I have ever used. You can't go wrong with the SWFA line. They are top notch.

some difference in glass and clear between 3-16x42 FFP vs SFP?

UTG scopes aren't in the same league as SWFA products. It isn't features that you are paying for with expensive glass. Some of the cheapest scopes have the most features. What you pay extra for is glass quality, turret precision and build quality. 

I started with UTG / Leapers scopes like a lot of people as they were cheap and at the time, I could barely get my head around paying $500 for an air rifle. On some of the air rifles I had back then, there was no point in buying anything better but they are a very basic product. I wouldn't put one on my more expensive air rifles. 

I wouldn't be able to go back to my UTG scopes after getting used to one of the SWFA products. I have think there are better low cost scopes (although maybe not quite as cheap as a 4-12 SWAT).

I just dropped a years worth of lunch money on a March 3-24x52 FML-1 off of Snipers Hide to put on an AirWolf. 

I scoured the internet and looked at EVERY scope out there and the March is the only model that has it all - 10 yard parallax, small, light weight, tier one glass, decen low and high maginifcation, FFP, precise turrets and tracking and great looking - for about 2k.

About the same amount I dropped on the rifle, I'm nuts, but it will be sweet. I'll post a review once mounted.

I just dropped a years worth of lunch money on a March 3-24x52 FML-1 off of Snipers Hide to put on an AirWolf. 

I scoured the internet and looked at EVERY scope out there and the March is the only model that has it all - 10 yard parallax, small, light weight, tier one glass, decen low and high maginifcation, FFP, precise turrets and tracking and great looking - for about 2k.

About the same amount I dropped on the rifle, I'm nuts, but it will be sweet. I'll post a review once mounted.

Just bought the same scope. Still waiting on the rifle. I'll be curious to see how you like it.

If you feel like dropping more coin, March UK has March labeled rings w/ 11mm dovetail. Looks like they are made by Tier One.

A March will be nice but it's no Schmidt and Bender... just kidding. That's what people on firearm forums do whenever someone buys an awesome new scope.

You already know it will be an amazing piece of glass. I'll be interested to hear if you find it to be worth the cash for air rifle distances.

Got the March mounted - it lives up to the hype, the glass is superb. At 24x the target looks like you're looking at it at arms length through reading glasses. 

My biggest concern is/was the size of the center dot, especially at high power.

At 25 yards (my zero distance) the center dot just about covers/almost fills the bull ring on an official bench rest target - measured at 1/16th of an inch. 





The result however is impressive, obliterates the 1/16" bull...



I'll post a full review with pictures after a complete workout this weekend.

I have 2 12x SWFA scopes and every time I think about trying something else I can't justify buying a new scope when the SWFA scopes are perfect. I can finally use my turrets instead of holdover which is a lot more precise for target shooting (for me anyway). Also being left handed, the rear focus is a big plus for me. Love these scopes.
