Buy a compressor and be done or look for a bottle for a good deal, I just picked up a 74cubic inch carbon fiber bottle for 300$. So much nicer then a hand pump

Should I buy a handpump with higher bar than the rifle?

with a hand pump you need a air dry filter on the gun side and that means you have to pump the filter up to pressure b4 it fills the gun . unless your not concerned about moisture ?

Hand pumps are a wonderful tool for economically filling, I did it for years and never had a problem. I had an inexpensive Benjamin pump that lasted for years, want to say about 8 before I got a tank. Mind you I'm a hunter so one fill would usually last me awhile, once I started getting more into target shooting it became apparent a tank/compressor was in order. My experience is moisture will get in regardless of what fancy filters you use. I think the most damage happens when a gun sits for a long period of time collecting dust....getting out and shooting it is the best thing for an Airgun.

I have a hill hand pump with the filter. The filter is pointless IMO as I had severe corrosion on the internals of my airforce condor's fill port. I now use a W31 that produces dry and breathable air if regulated. I vote compressor, as pumping blows.

Yeah, a lot of repeated missinformation that eventually people comes to believe into,....compressors actually create far more moisture then handpumps,
Been Handpumping for a decade and a half in a tropical Island and never, ever had any moisture problem period,

Well apparently myself and others don't know how to operate our hand pumps with a simple up and down mechanical motion. We also don't know how to avoid internal corrosion on our guns; mine was a brand new airforce condor and my Hill pump has the "supposed moisture filter". No corrosion issues since I went to a quality compressor.
My issues now involve oring replacement, since I am always taking things apart.
To the OP, do what you enjoy, can afford, and most importantly enjoy the sport. Understand we all have opinions and may disagree with eachother based on our own personal experiences and knowledge.

Kavliaris, I see you are still pondering a "hand pump" after all these months of posts about high power PCP's and "hand pumps"...Do you have electricity where you live? If not, I can understand your need, otherwise I am confused. Please elaborate.

I am tired of these type of comments... Yes I have electricity... What happends if one day we I wake up and I just dont have electricity since Putin can just press some buttons and shut down all Europe? (Just an example)... The main reason though is the budget... Do you want to give me money to buy compressor? Because I am not willing to buy a 500€ compressor just for one or 2 pcps. When I get more than 2 pcps I will consider buying a compressor... The hand pump is a must have because it doesnt depend on anyone else except yourself... And I am not scared of getting "tired" from some "hand pumping". I hope you are not confused anymore my friend Patrick

I'm new to air guns and only have one PCP & hand-pump. I was very confused at first, by recommendation of compressors. Hand-pumping was quite easy. Physical strain was nearly non-existent, similar to a walk around the block. It is very simple to use because there is only one moving part, the handle.. you move it up and down. I use a $50 pump from Amazon, well.. a $70 pump because my wife cares about interiors of the house and would not budge on color of the pump.
But i realize why people would want a compressor:
- My gun has a small air reservoir at 180CC, filling to 200 BAR. It is a small tank, so it fills much faster than regular/larger tanks.
- I'm in my early 40's and walk/jog often. If you are older and don't move as much, it maybe difficult.
- I don't shoot that much. I shoot 10-20 shots a day shooting at rats. If you are a target shooter going through full cans of pellets, you would need to stop in the middle, pump and shoot again.
- Hand-pumping takes couple minutes for 100 to 200 BAR. I have not used a compressor, but I assume they are couple seconds to fill rather than minutes.
- I'm not a serious hobbyist. I just shoot at rats, old frying pans and goof around. As someone who works on computer/phone only, I actually enjoy NOT having anything plugged in when I am having fun. If you are a serious shooter, I completely understand the need for electronic compressors.

The GX2, which runs on 12V, either from the 30 amp power supply or from a large enough car or motorcycle battery, takes 45 seconds, all inclusive, to fill my Diana Bandit pistol.

I have a workhorse Omega Trail Charger that does all my pumping.
I also have a Hill MK5 and Air Venturi hand pumps. I stupidly broke my Omega recently (which Todd got fixed with a new part for me), and once again realized that hand pumping isn't actually that bad if your goal is to fill some guns. I spent almost half a year hand-pumping only and mostly shooting inside the house at very short range to get my wife warmed up to our new hobby! Okay, I was also living in a dense and super liberal neighborhood with a dozen Karens watching my back yard at the time...
Yeah it's inconvenient for target shooting, but it's essential as a backup and like you say, if SHTF you'll be more than happy to pump those guns.

I might buy one of these cheap Chinese $49 Ebay handpumps as a triple backup, from what I've read in this thread it might be the one that ends up going the distance!

By the time I take my Nomad II out da case, set it up and fill one of my 250-300 cc 200 BAR guns it takes the same time as it does if I just hook up to one of my Handpumps and fill it that way.
